News Live is a 24-hour Indian Assamese-language satellite news channel broadcasting news, current affairs and infotainment programmes. It is owned by Pride East Entertainments Pvt Ltd, a Guwahati based media group whose majority stake is owned by Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, [2] [3] wife of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. [4] News Live has the highest viewership among all Assamese news channels. [5]

Prof Bhabananda Deka was a pioneer Assam economist and author who conducted novel research on the economy of the far eastern part of India. He was also a leading Indian-Assamese litterateur of the famed 'Awahon-Ramdhenu Era' of Assamese literature during the mid-20th century. He was the author of a total of 115 English and Assamese books including textbooks on a range of fifteen subjects including economics, ancient Assamese literature, philosophy, education, religion, mythology, archaeology, tribal study, poetry, drama, memoirs, civics, political science, biographies; he also edited books and journals. He also authored a variety of research papers and articles about the state of Assam, a state in the north-eastern part of India. He pioneered the writing of books on Economics in Assamese. His Assamese book Axomor Arthaneeti was the first ever research-based comprehensive book on Assam Economics, which was published for the first time in 1963. He was conferred with the honorary title of 'Asom Ratna' -- 'Jewel of Assam' by the intellectuals of Assam on 19 August 2007 at a public meet held under the presidency of Prof. (Dr) Satyendra Narayan Goswami.

Arun Sarma was a writer of Assam. Arun Sarma was one of Assam's contemporary playwrights and is particularly known for his unconventional plays with some elements of drama. Besides drama, he also authored over six novels detailing the Assamese way of life. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2010 in recognition of his contributions to Assamese literature. He has also been awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1998 for the novel Ashirbadar Rong. He has won the Asam Sahitya Sabha's Best Playwright Award for two consecutive years and also has the rare distinction of having won the Sangeet Natak Akademi award in 2003 for his contributions to drama and the Sahitya Akademi award in 1998 for literature. He was also the recipient of the Assam Valley Literary Award in 2005.

North East India is an under-represented region in many ways. A former member of the Indian National Congress, Sarma joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on 23 August 2015 and soon was made convenor of NEDA He is a five time Member of the Assam Legislative Assembly from Jalukbari, having been elected since 2001.

The channel broadcast recently released movies and shortfilms in Assamese, Hindi, Bengali and other regional languages.

Santwana Bordoloi is a director, actress, radio host and paediatrician from Assam, India. Both her directorial ventures, Adajya (1996) and Maj Rati Keteki (2017), set two decades apart, have won a National Award for the Best Feature Film in Assamese. Santwana Bordoloi started her career as an actor. She featured in popular TV series "Tejaal Ghora". This Series was directed by one of the renowned directors Kulada Kumar Bhattacharyya.

Prasantt Ghosh is an Indian fashion designer who works in various fashion shows and Assamese cinema. He is known for designing costumes in films like Suren Suror Putek, Bukur Majot Jawle, Khel, and has also designed dresses for opening and closing ceremonies of National Games of India held in Assam. Ghosh also runs a fashion designing and modeling institute named Assam Art and Designing Institute (AADI) in Guwahati, Assam, and works as a fashion choreographer.

Riniki Bhuyan Sharma is an Indian business woman from Assam. She is the managing director of Pride East Entertainment, a media house. She is married to Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister of Assam.

Gaurishankar Bhattacharyya was an Assamese freedom fighter, social activist, litterateur and politician, who served as the Leader of Opposition in the Assam Legislative Assembly.
