PTC Punjabi Film Awards are Indian film awards presented annually by the PTC Punjabi television network to honour both artistic and technical excellence of professional filmmakers and actors with achievements in the field of Punjabi cinema in India. [1]
The PTC Punjabi Film awards were first introduced in 2011. In 2020, Digital Film Awards were introduced. [2] In the same year, due to coronavirus pandemic network announced the award show will be held online. [3]
In 2019 the awards were anchored by Sonu Sood, Divya Dutta, Manish Paul, Gavy Chahal and Gurnam Bhullar.They took place at JLPL Ground, Mohali on 16 March. Sajjan Singh Rangroot , Carry On Jatta 2 and Qismat were the top winners winning 4 awards each, followed by Laung Laachi with 3 awards. [4] [5]
The World's first online awards show this year: PTC Punjabi Film Awards 2020. 2020 has not been a great year for the entertainment industry. COVID-19 forced lockdown across the globe and most events have been postponed indefinitely, if not cancelled. PTC Punjabi Film Awards 2020 therefore will go online. PTC Network is using technology to its best to make sure this event does not lack the glitz and glamour that it promises.
As of 2014, there are 26 awards. There was a separate category of film-critics awards, decided by noted film critics rather than popular votes. This dual format has also generated some controversy amongst viewers and recipients. Awards were given in the following categories.

Punjabi cinema refers to the Punjabi-language film industry centered around the Indian state of Punjab, and based in Amritsar, Ludhiana and Mohali.
Amrinder Singh Gill is an Indian actor, singer, songwriter and film producer who makes Punjabi-language films and music. He has been nominated for twenty-four PTC Punjabi Film Awards, winning seven including three for Best Actor, and two for Best Playback singer and has been nominated for five Filmfare Awards, winning two for Best Actor and Best Playback singer, among other accolades.
Diljit Dosanjh is an Indian singer, actor, film producer and television personality. He works in Punjabi Music and subsequently in Punjabi and Hindi cinema. Dosanjh entered Social 50 chart by Billboard in 2020. He is featured in various music charts including Canadian Albums Chart, UK Asian chart by Official Charts Company and New Zealand Hot Singles. His films, including Jatt & Juliet 2, Sajjan Singh Rangroot and Honsla Rakh are among the highest grossing Punjabi films in history.
Rupinder Singh "Gippy" Grewal, is an Indian actor, singer, film director and producer whose works span over Punjabi and Hindi film industry.
Tejinder Singh "Babbu" Maan is an Indian singer-songwriter, music director, actor and film producer. Most of his artistic work focuses on Punjabi music and films. He is recognised as being among the biggest artists in Punjabi music.
47 to 84 is an Indian Punjabi film based on a realistic story that has been shot in Punjab, Chandigarh, New Delhi and the nearby areas. This movie is about the journey of a child through the traumatic times of the India-Pakistan partition, and when her life was finally heading to normality, the 84 riots happened. The film is directed by Rajiv Sharma and produced by Babli Singh. The film was released on 30 May 2014.
Anurag Singh is an Indian film director, writer and producer. He is best known for the Bollywood film Kesari (2019), which was a major success at the time of release. He is also noted for directing Punjabi films such as Punjab 1984, Jatt and Juliet film series and Yaar Annmulle. He is widely recognized as one of the most influential filmmakers of Punjabi film industry.
Sonampreet Bajwa, better known as Sonam Bajwa, is an Indian actress who predominantly works in Punjabi films. After participating in the 2012 Femina Miss India contest, Bajwa made her acting debut with the Punjabi film Best Of Luck (2013) and made her Tamil film debut with Kappal. Bajwa is a recipient of one PTC Punjabi Film Award.
Goreyan Nu Daffa Karo is a 2014 Indian Punjabi-language romantic comedy film starring Amrinder Gill and actress Amrit Maghera.
Amninderpal Singh Virk, better known as Ammy Virk, is an Indian singer, actor and producer associated with Punjabi Music and subsequently in Punjabi and Hindi films. He started the production house Villagers Film Studio and a distribution company In House Group. He is best known for playing the role of Nikka in Nikka Zaildar series, Shivjit in Qismat & Qismat 2, Harjeet Singh in Harjeeta, and Haakam in Angrej.

Sunanda Sharma is an Indian playback singer and film actress. She made her debut with the song "Billi Akh". Sharma began her acting career with the film Sajjan Singh Rangroot with co-stars Diljit Dosanjh and Yograj Singh. Sunanda started her Bollywood career with "Tere Naal Nachna" song.
Qismat (transl. Destiny) is a 2018 Punjabi romantic drama film written and directed by Jagdeep Sidhu. Produced by Shri Narotam Ji Productions, the film stars Ammy Virk and Sargun Mehta in lead roles along with Guggu Gill, Tania and Harby Sangha in supporting roles. It was titled after a 2017 song of the same name, sung by Virk and starring Mehta in its music video. The film follows a man who falls in love whilst studying in Chandigarh, despite his marriage being arranged to another woman. It marked feature film debut for Tania.
Jagdeep Sidhu is an Indian film director, writer, screenwriter and dialogue writer associated with Punjabi and Hindi cinema. He has been nominated for seven awards for categories "Best Screenplay", "Dialogue", and "Direction" PTC Punjabi Film Awards, winning one "Best Debut Director" for the film Qismat (2019) and has been nominated for five Filmfare Awards Punjabi.
Filmfare Awards Punjabi are presented to the best films and performers in Punjabi cinema. The Awards were first presented in 2017.
Villagers Film Studio Private Limited is an Indian film production company founded by Ammy Virk and his brother Bhagwant Virk in 2017. Villagers Film Studio began to produce films in 2018 with Laung Laachi followed by Harjeeta and Guddiyan Patole.
Chal Mera Putt is a 2019 Indian Punjabi-language comedy-drama Film directed by Janjot Singh and co-produced by Rhythm Boyz Entertainment, Gillz Network and Omjee Star Studios. It stars Amrinder Gill, Simi Chahal, Iftikhar Thakur, Nasir Chinyoti, Akram Udas, Rup Khatkar, Hardeep Gill and Gurshabad. The film revolves around Punjabis trying hard to make a living in a foreign land. The film will followed by a direct sequel Chal Mera Putt 2 (2020). It marked the feature film directorial debut for Janjot Singh.

He is Best known for his songs like Aadat, Oh Kyu Ni Jan Sake, Roii Na, Thokda Reha and Gall Jattan Wali. He made his acting debut with the movie Channa Mereya for which he received Filmfare Best Debut Male Award.
