PTC Punjabi Film Awards are Indian film awards presented annually by the PTC Punjabi television network to honour both artistic and technical excellence of professional filmmakers and actors with achievements in the field of Punjabi cinema in India. [1]

History

The PTC Punjabi Film awards were first introduced in 2011. In 2020, Digital Film Awards were introduced. [2] In the same year, due to coronavirus pandemic network announced the award show will be held online. [3]

PTC Punjabi Film Awards 2019

In 2019 the awards were anchored by Sonu Sood, Divya Dutta, Manish Paul, Gavy Chahal and Gurnam Bhullar.They took place at JLPL Ground, Mohali on 16 March. Sajjan Singh Rangroot , Carry On Jatta 2 and Qismat were the top winners winning 4 awards each, followed by Laung Laachi with 3 awards. [4] [5]

PTC Punjabi Film Awards 2020

The World's first online awards show this year: PTC Punjabi Film Awards 2020. 2020 has not been a great year for the entertainment industry. COVID-19 forced lockdown across the globe and most events have been postponed indefinitely, if not cancelled. PTC Punjabi Film Awards 2020 therefore will go online. PTC Network is using technology to its best to make sure this event does not lack the glitz and glamour that it promises.

As of 2014, there are 26 awards. There was a separate category of film-critics awards, decided by noted film critics rather than popular votes. This dual format has also generated some controversy amongst viewers and recipients. Awards were given in the following categories.

<i>47 to 84</i> 2014 Indian film

47 to 84 is an Indian Punjabi film based on a realistic story that has been shot in Punjab, Chandigarh, New Delhi and the nearby areas. This movie is about the journey of a child through the traumatic times of the India-Pakistan partition, and when her life was finally heading to normality, the 84 riots happened. The film is directed by Rajiv Sharma and produced by Babli Singh. The film was released on 30 May 2014.

Anurag Singh is an Indian film director. He is a Mumbai-based film director and writer known for Kesari which is the biggest blockbuster of 2019 in the Bollywood industry as well as for Punjab 1984, Jatt and Juliet Series and Yaar Annmulle. Jatt and Juliet series and Punjab 1984 are the top three highest-grossing films of Punjabi cinema. He has also directed a Bollywood film Raqeeb which didn't do well at the box office. Anurag has assisted many blockbusters of Bollywood cinema. In 2005, he was married to his childhood sweetheart Madhurjeet Sarghi, a theatre artist and an actress who also hails from Jalandhar. In 2016 Anurag and Sarghi had a boy named Shivaye Anurag Singh. Anurag has an elder brother named Armaan Singh who is a well-known chief engineer in California, United States. Anurag gets to interact a lot with kids especially his nephews and nieces who live in Jalandhar. Anurag made his production debut by producing Super Singh which broke many records, under his production company named Brat Films. He has also produced Shadaa, which broke many records, and Puaada, which was released in April 2021.

Bajwa is a recipient of one PTC Punjabi Film Award.

Ranjit Singh Bajwa known professionally as Ranjit Bawa is an Indian singer and actor associated with Punjabi language music and films. He rose to fame from his single "Jatt Di Akal" from his debut in the 2015 album, Mitti Da Bawa which was awarded the "Best World Album" award in the 2015 Brit Asia TV Music Awards. He has also received "PTC Best Folk oriented Song Award" in 2013 for his Song in 2013, Jatt Di Akal. His numorous songs including 'Yaari Chandigarh Waliye' and 'Impress' peaked on UK Asian Music Chart and UK Punjabi Music Charts. <i>Qismat</i> 2018 film directed by Jagdeep Sidhu

Qismat (transl. Destiny) is a 2018 Punjabi romantic drama film written and directed by Jagdeep Sidhu. Produced by Shri Narotam Ji Productions, the film stars Ammy Virk and Sargun Mehta in lead roles along with Guggu Gill, Tania and Harby Sangha in supporting roles. It was titled after a 2017 song of the same name, sung by Virk and starring Mehta in its music video. The film follows a man who falls in love whilst studying in Chandigarh, despite his marriage being arranged to another woman. It marked feature film debut for Tania.

Jagdeep Sidhu is an Indian film director, writer, screenwriter and dialogue writer associated with Punjabi and Hindi cinema. He has been nominated for seven awards for categories "Best Screenplay", "Dialogue", and "Direction" PTC Punjabi Film Awards, winning one "Best Debut Director" for the film Qismat (2019) and has been nominated for five Filmfare Awards Punjabi.

Filmfare Awards Punjabi are presented to the best films and performers in Punjabi cinema. The Awards were first presented in 2017.

Villagers Film Studio Private Limited is an Indian film production company founded by Ammy Virk and his brother Bhagwant Virk in 2017. Villagers Film Studio began to produce films in 2018 with Laung Laachi followed by Harjeeta and Guddiyan Patole.

He made his acting debut with the movie Channa Mereya for which he received Filmfare Best Debut Male Award.

Kamaldeep Singh Dhaliwal, commonly known as Hobby Dhaliwal is an Indian film actor, singer, and politician. He is known for his works in Punjabi and Hindi films. Dhaliwal began his career by debut movie Burrraahh in 2012. The films Angrej (2015), Lahoriye (2017), Jora 10 Numbaria (2017), and Ardaas Karaan (2019) are among his best known works.
