The 10th PTC Punjabi Film Awards ceremony, presented by PTC Punjabi, honored the best Punjabi films of 2019, and will be held online. It is the first time the award is being held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The curtain raiser for the awards was held on 29 May 2020 on PTC Punjabi. [1] The award ceremony was online on 3 July 2020, and was hosted by Gurpreet Ghuggi, Divya Dutta, Harish Verma, and Gurnam Bhullar. [2] Ardaas Karaan won the most six awards, including Best Film, Best Actor (for Ghuggi) and Best Director (for Gippy Grewal), followed by Chal Mera Putt , which won three awards including Best Comedy Film and Best Actor critics' (for Amrinder Gill). [3]

Gurpreet Singh Waraich, commonly known as Gurpreet Ghuggi, is an Indian actor, comedian and politician. He is known for his works in Punjabi and Hindi films. Ghuggi began his career by acting in theatre in the early 1990s, after which he had recurring roles in television series such as Ronak Mela and the soap opera Parchhaven. He gained international public recognition with comedic leading roles through his videos Ghuggi Junction (2003) and Ghuggi Shoo Mantar (2004), before beginning his film career by starring as Patwari Jhilmil Singh in Asa Nu Maan Watna Da (2004). He starred in the film Carry On Jatta (2012), and was praised for his meaningful leading role in Ardaas (2015).

<i>Sukhmani: Hope for Life</i> 2010 Indian film

Sukhmani – Hope for Life is a 2010 Indian Punjabi-language film directed by Manjeet Maan and starring Gurdas Maan, Juhi Chawla, Divya Dutta and Bhagwant Mann. It was produced by Gurdas, Manjeet's husband, and their son Gurikk Maan. It has been made by the Maan's own production company - Sai Lok Sangeet, with screenplay by Irshad Kamil, music by Jaidev Kumar and lyrics written by Gurdas Maan. Music to the film was released on 6 January 2010 and includes vocals from Gurdas Maan, Shreya Ghoshal and for the first time ever in her career - Juhi Chawla has sung alongside Gurdas Maan in a duet for the song "Preeto " and "Nanhi Si Gudiya".

Carry On Jatta is a 2012 Indian Punjabi comedy film directed by Smeep Kang and starring Gippy Grewal, and Mahie Gill. The film released on 27 July 2012. This film was remade in Odia in 2015 as Pilata Bigidigala, in Telugu in 2016 as Eedo Rakam Aado Rakam, in Bangladesh (Bengali) in 2017 as Dhat Teri Ki and in Bengali (India) in 2019 as Jamai Badal. The movie was reported to be loosely inspired by the 2004 Hindi movie Kuch Toh Gadbad Hain.

<i>Bhaji in Problem</i> 2013 film by Smeep Kang

Bhaji in Problem is a 2013 Indian Punjabi-language comedy film directed by Smeep Kang, who had earlier directed films like Carry on Jatta and Lucky Di Unlucky Story, both of which featured Gippy Grewal in the lead role. Grewal also appears in this film, with an ensemble cast including Ragini Khanna, Gurpreet Ghuggi, B. N. Sharma, Karamjit Anmol, Japji Khaira, Khushboo Grewal and Misha Bajwa, amongst others. The film is produced by Ashvini Yardi.Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, who also appears in the film briefly as a lookalike of himself. The film also features actor Om Puri and cricketer Harbhajan Singh. Bhaji in Problem was released on 15 November 2013 on over 600 screens worldwide.

Jatt James Bond or JJB is a 2014 Indian Punjabi film directed by Rohit Jugraj, and starring Gippy Grewal and Zareen Khan as leads, along with Gurpreet Ghuggi, Yashpal Sharma. The music of the film is by Jatinder Shah and Mukhtar Sahota.

<i>Fateh</i> (2014 film) 2014 Indian film

Fateh is an adventure film. The film starring Nav Bajwa, Samiksha Singh, Yaad Grewal, Supreet Bedi, Puneet Issar, Navneet Nishan, Deep Dhillon, Shivendra Mahal, Gurpreet Ghuggi and Karamjit Anmol, is the first Punjabi film to be made on martial arts. It is a film on enduring Punjabi culture depicting sword and stick art that teaches that perseverance can lead to triumph.

He is best known for playing the role of Nikka in Nikka Zaildar series, Shivjit in Qismat & Qismat 2, Harjeet Singh in Harjeeta, and Haakam in Angrej.

Muklawa is a 2019 Indian Punjabi-language, comedy-drama film directed by Simerjit Singh under the banner of Ammy Virk Productions. The film is produced by Gunbir Singh Sidhu and Manmord Sidhu. The film stars Ammy Virk, Sonam Bajwa, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Karamjit Anmol and B.N. Sharma are in leading roles with Gurpreet Bhangu, Sukhwinder Chahal, Rakhi Hundal, Drishtii Garewal and Sarbjit Cheema in are in supporting roles. Muklawa was released worldwide in cinemas on 24 May 2019.

Maa is a 2022 Indian Punjabi language film directed by Baljit Singh Deo and produced by Ravneet kaur Grewal and Gippy Grewal. The film stars Divya Dutta, Gippy Grewal, Babbal Rai, Raghveer Boli, Rana Ranbir and Gurpreet Ghuggi. The film was released on 6 May 2022.

Anita Devgan is an Indian film and television actress, who is known for her work in the Punjabi film industry. Her most well-known works are the films Jatt & Juliet, Ronde Sare Vyah Picho, Angrej, Bambukat, Rabb Da Radio, Golak Bugni Bank Te Batua, Mr. & Mrs. 420 Returns, Puaada, and Ni Main Sass Kuttni.
