Karaj Gill is an Indian film producer who makes Punjabi-language films and music. He owns a production house and distribution company Rhythm Boyz Entertainment. Gill began producing films in 2015, with a historical romance film Angrej . He has been nominated for six Filmfare Punjabi Awards, winning two for Bambukat (2016) and Lahoriye (2017), among other accolades.

Career

Gill co-founded a Canadian production company Rhythm Boyz Entertainment with Amrinder Gill on 19 March 2013. [3] The company was named after their college time Bhangra group of same name. [4] [5] In 2014, a studio album Judaa 2 by Amrinder Gill and Dr Zeus was produced by company. [6] He made his debut as a film producer with Angrej in 2015. Conceived as a romantic comedy set in the pre-partitioned Punjab, the film was directed by Simerjit Singh and was written by Amberdeep Singh, and starred Amrinder Gill, Sargun Mehta, and Aditi Sharma in lead roles. It grossed 307 million (equivalent to 390 millionorUS$4.9 million in 2020) in whole theatrical run, making it one of the highest-grossing Punjabi films of all time. [7] Also, the film was critically acclaimed and won ten awards at PTC Punjabi Film Awards including Best Film. [8] Gill in an interview disclosed that their team tries to produce family and meaningful films, and most of the films produced by him are "U" rated in India. [9]

Set against the backdrop of the waning British Raj, the film chronicles the love story of a young man and a woman, played by Amrinder Gill and Sargun Mehta respectively, belonging to different social strata. Angrej has Aditi Sharma, Ammy Virk, Binnu Dhillon, Anita Devgan, Sardar Sohi, and Nirmal Rishi in supporting roles; it marked the feature film debut for Mehta and Virk.

Bhajjo Veero Ve (transl. Run brothers!) is a 2018 Indian Punjabi-language romantic comedy film written and directed by Amberdeep Singh. It is produced by Karaj Gill and Talwinder Hayre, and stars Singh, Simi Chahal, Nirmal Rishi, Guggu Gill and Hobby Dhaliwal. The film follows four unmarried men, three of which have given up all hope of getting married while the fourth, played by Singh, fall in love. In order to marry her, he had to find his long lost maternal family. The film is produced under the banner of Rhythm Boyz Entertainment in association with Hayre Omjee Studios.

Rupinder Kaur Gill, better known as Roopi Gill, is a Canadian model and actress who mostly works in the Punjabi Film Industry. She rose to fame with her performance in the music video for the song "Diamond", by Gurnam Bhullar. She started her acting career with Ashke (2018), for which she received a PTC Punjabi Film Awards nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Kamaldeep Singh Dhaliwal, commonly known as Hobby Dhaliwal is an Indian film actor, singer, and politician. He is known for his works in Punjabi and Hindi films. Dhaliwal began his career by debut movie Burrraahh in 2012. The films Angrej (2015), Lahoriye (2017), Jora 10 Numbaria (2017), and Ardaas Karaan (2019) are among his best known works.

Jaspal Singh Sandhu is an Indian film director, writer and producer. He is best known for his films including “Vadh”, starring Sanjay Mishra and Neena Gupta, “Angrej”, starring Amrinder Gill, and “Afsar”, starring Tarsem Jassar and Nimrat Khaira.
