Subodh Bhave (born 9 November 1975) is an Indian actor, writer, producer and director who is known for his work in Marathi cinema. He has acted in many commercially successful and critically acclaimed Marathi movies. He is best known for his work in Ani... Dr. Kashinath Ghanekar , Balgandharva , Katyar Kaljat Ghusali . [1] He recently portrayed Vikrant Saranjame aka Gajendra Patil in Zee Marathi's Tula Pahate Re.

Early life and family

Subodh was born in Pune and now lives in Mumbai. He completed his graduation from Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce - Pune and completed M.Com. He started his career as a salesman in a small IT company called Inika Technologies, situated in Koregaon Park (Pune) and moved to acting later. [2] He married his childhood sweetheart Manjiri Deshpande Bhave in 2001, and they have two sons, Kanha and Malhar. [3] [4]

Subodh has acted in numerous Marathi TV serials, movies and theatre. His roles include Bal Gangadhar Tilak in the movie Lokmanya: Ek Yugpurush, a biopic on one of the country's biggest social reformers. [5] His role of Balgandharva was also appreciated in the film Balgandharva , which was based on the artist Narayanrao Rajhans and the book named Gandharva Gatha. [6]

Bhave directed the play Katyar Kaljat Ghusali, in which he also essayed a supporting role Sadashiv. In 2015, Bhave directed a Katyar Kaljat Ghusali based on this play, in which he played Sadashiv, one of the main roles. It was one of the highest-grossing Marathi films of 2015. [7] [8]

Zee Marathi's TV Show "Tula Pahate Re" starring Subodh Bhave, Gayatri Datar and Abhidnya Bhave has brought in success to the show. A unique story-line and the acting skills of Subodh Bhave have glued its audience leaving other TV Shows behind in terms of TRP Ratings. [9]

Katyar Kaljat Ghusali is a 2015 Indian Marathi-language epic musical drama film based on a play by the same name. Directed by Subodh Bhave, the film stars Sachin Pilgaonkar, Shankar Mahadevan, and Subodh Bhave in lead roles. The film marks the directorial debut for Bhave, and the theatrical acting debut for Shankar Mahadevan. The original play, written by Purushottam Darvhekar, premiered in 1967 in Mumbai, where Hindustani classical vocalist Vasantrao Deshpande played one of the protagonists. In 2010, the play was relaunched with protagonists essayed by Rahul Deshpande, grandson of Vasantrao Deshpande and singer Mahesh Kale. The film's music is composed by Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy, and retained some of the songs from the original play composed by Jitendra Abhisheki.

Katyar Kaljat Ghusali is a Marathi musical play, originally released in 1967. The play gained such popularity that more than 1,000 shows were staged in a very short period. The play was written by Purushottam Darvhekar. The story depicts clash of two gharanas (schools) of Indian classical music. Pt. Jeetendra Abhisheki composed the padas.

<i>Phulrani</i> 2023 Indian film

Phulrani is a 2023 Indian Marathi-language romantic film co-written and directed Vishwas Joshi. The film is jointly produced by Amruta Films, Third Ace Entertainment and Fincraft Media, it is distributed by Viacom18 Studios. Subodh Bhave and Priyadarshini Indalkar in lead roles. The film is a remake of the 1964 American musical comedy drama My Fair Lady, which is itself a adaptation of the 1913 play Pygmalion. It was theatrically released on 22 March 2023.

The Filmfare Marathi Best Director Award is one of the main awards presented given by the annual Filmfare Marathi Awards to recognise directors working in Marathi cinema. It was first presented in 1975.

<i>Katyar Kaljat Ghusali</i> (soundtrack) 2015 soundtrack album by Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy and Jitendra Abhisheki

Katyar Kaljat Ghusali is the soundtrack to the 2015 Marathi film of the same name directed by Subodh Bhave based on the 1967 stage play by Purushottam Darvhekar. The film features 17 songs—which included original songs composed by Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy and the recreations of original music from the play composed by Jitendra Abhisheki and written by Darvhekar. The original songs had lyrics written by Sameer Samant, Mangesh Kangane, Mandar Cholkar and Prakash Kapadia. The soundtrack was released by Zee Music Company on 16 October 2015.

Sangeet Manapmaan is an upcoming Indian Marathi-language epic musical film directed by Subodh Bhave. The film stars Bhave, Sumeet Raghavan and Vaidehi Parshurami with Nivedita Saraf, Upendra Limaye, Neena Kulkarni and Shailesh Datar in supporting roles. It is jointly produced by Jio Studios and Shree Ganesh Marketing And Films, Sangeet Manapmaan is an adaptation of the classic play of the same name by Krishnaji Prabhakar Khadilkar. Sudheer Palsane handled the cinematography and editing was performed by Ashish Mhatre.
