The 2021–22 season was the eighth season in Kerala Blasters FC's existence, as well as their eighth season in Indian Super League. The 2021–22 Indian Super League season began on 19 November 2021, and it end on 20 March 2022 with all the matches held in Goa across three venues, same like the previous season due to the COVID-19 pandemic in India.

The 2021–22 season is the club's second season since the merger of the brand of ATK FC with Mohun Bagan AC in 2020, and their second season in the Indian Super League. The club though initially participated in the 123rd edition of the Calcutta Football League, later withdrew before the start of their campaign.

The 2022–23 season is the 103rd season of East Bengal Football Club and their third season in the Indian Super League. The Indian football season started in August. The club competed in the Durand Cup and got eliminated in the group stage. The club will also participate in the Indian Super League, Calcutta Football League and the Super Cup.

The 2022–23 season is the ninth season in Kerala Blasters FC's existence, as well as their ninth season in Indian Super League. This season of the ISL witnesses the return of the home-away format of the matches similar to that of the 2019–20 Indian Super League season after a break of two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

Jijo Joseph Tutu is an Indian professional footballer from Thrissur, Kerala who plays for East Bengal Club in the Indian Super League. He captained the winning team, the Kerala state football team to Santosh Trophy 2021–22 and won the player of the tournament award for his performance.

Jesin Thonikkara is an Indian professional footballer from Malappuram, Kerala who plays for East Bengal Club in the Indian Super League. He has represented Kerala State Football Team in Santosh Trophy. He scored five goals in Semi-final of Santosh Trophy 2021–22 against Karnataka to gain acclaim and attention. He played for Kerala United in Kerala Premiere League before joining East Bengal Club.
