He moved to New Zealand in 2002 and is coaching field hockey teams at the highest level.

The Malaysia men's national field hockey team represents Malaysia in international field hockey competitions. As of March 2023, the team is ranked 10th in the world, and 3rd in Asia, by the International Hockey Federation. The governing body for the sports is the Malaysian Hockey Confederation.

The fifth season of Akademi Fantasia premiered on 17 March 2007 and ran until 19 May 2007. The season was joined by new judges, Fauziah Latiff, Hattan and Fauziah Ahmad Daud, who replaced Adlin Aman Ramlie, while Aznil Nawawi returned as host for his fifth season. On 19 May 2007, Norsyarmilla Jirin from Penang was crowned the winner of the fifth season of Akademi Fantasia, making her the first female winner, defeating runner-up Ebi Kornelis @ Firdaus Yaimal. This season also featured Aizat Amdan, who would subsequently become the overall winner of 2009 and 2012 Anugerah Juara Lagu.

Malaysia competed in the 2010 Commonwealth Games held in Delhi, India, from 3 to 14 October 2010. Malaysia's team consisted of 203 athletes and 99 officials throughout the Games. Malaysia won 12 gold medals, surpassing the 10-gold medal target set by the National Sports Council, and finished in 7th position in the medal table.

Unplugged is a live album by Malaysian recording artist Siti Nurhaliza. It was released in multiple formats, both physical and digital in Malaysia on 30 June 2015. The main live tracks were all taken from her 2015 unplugged concert at Istana Budaya on 7 April 2015. The CD, digital download and LP record versions of the album however come with three new bonus songs, "Menatap dalam Mimpi", "Engkau" ("You") and "Mikraj Cinta". All were recorded specifically to accompany the three audio releases.

Malaysia participated in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia from 18 August to 2 September 2018. At the last edition in Incheon, the country placed 14 in the medals tally, with 5 gold medals from squash, sailing, and karate. In 2018 edition, Malaysia was represented by 447 athletes and 140 officials at the Games. Abdul Azim Mohamad Zabidi, the Appeals Committee chairman of the Olympic Council of Malaysia was the chief of the delegation.

The 2018 Saudari Cup was contested between the women's national teams of Malaysia and Singapore from 9 to 12 August 2018. The Saudari cup is an annual event between the two sides, which started in 2014, and had been won by Malaysia in each of the first three editions. All three previous tournaments were won 2–1 by Malaysia, including the most recent which was played in Johor in 2016. The tournament was contested over six Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) matches, with the first five matches played at the Selangor Turf Club in Kuala Lumpur and the final match played at the UKM-YSD Cricket Oval in Bangi.
