The Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC; Malay : Konfederasi Hoki Malaysia) is the national governing body for Malaysia men's national field hockey team, Malaysia women's national field hockey team, Malaysia national under-21 field hockey team, Malaysia national women's under-21 field hockey team, Malaysia national indoor hockey team and Malaysia national women's indoor hockey team than also manage the field hockey in Malaysia. It is affiliated to the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) and member of the International Hockey Federation (FIH). The current MHC president is Dato' Sri Subahan Kamal.[ citation needed ]

The Sultan Azlan Shah Cup is an annual invitational international men's field hockey tournament held in Malaysia. It began in 1983 as a biennial contest. The tournament became an annual event after 1998, following its growth and popularity. The tournament is named after the ninth Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King) of Malaysia, Sultan Azlan Shah, a supporter of field hockey.

Adrian Albert D'souza is an Indian field hockey goalkeeper, who made his international debut for the men's national team in January 2004 during the Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Adrian has more than 100 International Caps for his country in all competitions. He has played in all major field hockey tournaments, including the 2006 Hockey World Cup, 2006 Asian Games, 2007 Asia Cup and 2 Champions Trophies. Regarded as one of the most innovative and daring goal-keepers of recent times, Adrian brought the rushing technique to the hockey field. Adrian has competed in 3/4 major international hockey events : the Olympics, World Cup, and Asian Games with a total of 165 caps for his country.

Sukhbir Singh Gill was an Indian field hockey midfielder, who made his international debut for the men's national team in 1995 during the Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Gill represented India at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia, where the country finished in seventh place.

The Malaysia men's national field hockey team represents Malaysia in international field hockey competitions. As of August 2023, the team is ranked 9th in the world, and 2nd in Asia, by the International Hockey Federation. The governing body for the sports is the Malaysian Hockey Confederation.

Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah is the Sultan of Pahang since ascending to the throne following the abdication of his father in 2019. He was the sixteenth Yang di-Pertuan Agong, from 2019 to 2024, being sworn in just a few weeks after ascending to the throne as Sultan of Pahang.

The Malaysia Junior Hockey League (MJHL) is a top junior league competition for junior field hockey clubs in the Malaysian hockey system. At present also it is sponsored by Milo and National Sports Council.

Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Yussuff Izzuddin Shah Ghafarullahu-lah was Sultan of Perak from 1984 until his death in 2014, and the ninth Yang di-Pertuan Agong, from 1989 to 1994.

The 2000 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup was the tenth edition of field hockey tournament the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Pakistan won their successive second title after beating South Korea 1-0 with a late minute goal by Kamran Ashraf in the final becoming the first side to retain the Azlan Shah Cup since its inaugural edition. Pakistan's captain and goalkeeper Ahmed Alam was voted as player of the tournament.

Dato' Sri Subahan bin Kamal is a Malaysian businessman and former politician. He has held numerous board and senior management roles at Malaysian-based companies. Kamal is a director at two Bursa Malaysia-listed companies. He is chairman at Can-One Berhad, and is non-executive chairman at Alcom Group. He is an executive director of ACE Market-listed Gagasan Nadi Cergas Berhad. Kamal is executive chairman of FBE Ventures, an F&B company based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He was a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) party.
