Maleczewo [malɛˈt͡ʂɛvɔ] (German : Malleczewen; 1938-45: Maletten) [1] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Ełk, within Ełk County, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in northern Poland. [2] It lies approximately 6 kilometres (4 mi) south-west of Ełk and 120 km (75 mi) east of the regional capital Olsztyn.

Gmina Ełk is a rural gmina in Ełk County, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in northern Poland. Its seat is the town of Ełk, although the town is not part of the territory of the gmina.

Before 1945 the area was part of Germany (East Prussia).

Friedrich Reck-Malleczewen German writer

Friedrich Percyval Reck-Malleczewen was a German author. His best-known work is Diary of a Man in Despair, a journal in which he expressed his passionate opposition to Adolf Hitler and Nazism. He was eventually arrested by the Nazis and died allegedly of typhus at the Dachau concentration camp.
