Mandya Ramesh is an Indian actor, comedian, director and theatre personality who mainly works in the Kannada films and theatre. He is the founder secretary of Natana, Rangashaale, Mysore, a theatre training institutions of India. [1]
Ramesh started his theatre career in 1982 through a theatre workshop conducted by Ashok Badaradinni, a graduate from National School of Drama. He has worked for Neenasam theatre institute from 1984 as an actor and technician. He then joined Rangayana in 1989 and worked under the guidance of B. V. Karanth for around 9 years. He debuted into acting in films in 1995, with a role in the film Janumada Jodi alongside Shiva Rajkumar. In 2002 he founded his own school for theatre arts, Natana [2] which is a theatre institution in India with many working wings. He has also written two books, Rangavalli and Kanavarike that are related to his life in theatre. He has acted in more than 350 films among which Janumada Jodi , Nagamandala , Kanasugara , Mata , Oggarane , Uppina Kagada, Bhajarangi 2, Devara Naadalli, The Villain, Yajamana are prominent. [3] He has also appeared in TV series like Janani, Manethana, Chi Sou Savithri, "Shreerasthu Shubhamasthu", "Ivalu Sujatha". Plays he has directed include "Oorubhanga", "CHaama Chaluve", "Subhadra Kalyana", "Sayoo Aata", "Mruccha Katika", "Sankranthi". He is currently serving as the founder director for Natana School of Theatre arts situated in Mysuru. [4] He also appears as Mandya Muddesha in the Kannada sketch comedy show Majaa Talkies , hosted by Srujan Lokesh currently being aired on Colors Kannada channel. He has completed 39 years in theatre and 25 years in Kannada Cinema.

Nagamandala is a 1997 Indian Kannada-language drama film, directed by T. S. Nagabharana based on a play of same name by Girish Karnad. It was produced by Srihari L. Khoday and the music was scored by C. Aswath. It is an adaptation of a 1988 play by Karnad with the same name which is based on a local folk tale and ritual. It stars Prakash Raj and Vijayalakshmi in the lead roles. The film depicts a romantic plot between a woman and a snake in the disguise of her uncaring husband.
Janumada Jodi is a 1996 Indian Kannada-language romantic drama film directed by T. S. Nagabharana and written by Baraguru Ramachandrappa, based on Pannalal Patel's 1941 Gujarati novel Malela Jeev. The film was scripted by T. S. Nagabharana. The film stars Shiva Rajkumar and Shilpa in lead roles, while Pavithra Lokesh, Mukhyamantri Chandru and Honnavalli Krishna plays supporting roles. The film's plot follows Krishna and Kanaka (Shilpa), who fall in love despite belonging to different castes. The film follows the troubles they face in their love story.

Devara Naadalli is a 2016 Indian Kannada language political thriller film written and directed by B. Suresha, inspired by an article that appeared on The Times of India in 1998, of an incident that occurred in a town in coastal Karnataka. It features an ensemble cast of Prakash Raj, Achyuth Kumar, Mandya Ramesh and Sihi Kahi Chandru. The film has received critical reviews from Japanese audience and lot of accolades as the film had Japanese subtitles which was the joint work of Sirish Chandrashekar and Ryozo Araki. This was nominated for South Indian film festival in Tokyo for the year 2016.
