Mantosh Sondhi was an IOFS officer. [1] He served as the first General Manager of the Heavy Vehicles Factory, [2] [3] [4] one of the 41 Indian Ordnance Factories. He was the founding Chairman & Managing Director of Bokaro Steel Plant. He was the first IOFS officer and first non-IAS officer to hold the posts of Secretary of Ministry of Heavy Industries, Ministry of Steel, Ministry of Mines and Ministry of Coal. [5] [6] [7] He studied engineering at the University of London. [2] He was awarded Padma Shri in 1968 by the President of India. [8] In 1995, he was decorated as Commander of the Order of the Lion of Finland by the President of Finland. [9] The headquarters of Confederation of Indian Industry is named in his honour. [10] He was a member of the Atomic Energy Commission of India. He also served as the Chairman of several MNCs such as Ashok Leyland, [11] ABB, Wärtsilä. [12] His son is Vipin Sondhi, former CEO and MD of JCB India and Ashok Leyland.

Major Hari Pal Singh Ahluwalia was an Indian mountaineer, author, social worker and Indian Ordnance Factories Service (IOFS) officer. During his career he made contributions in the fields of adventure, sports, environment, disability and social work. He is one of six Indian men and the twenty first man in the world to climb Mount Everest. On 29 May 1965, 12 years to the day from the first ascent of Mount Everest, he made the summit with the fourth and final successful attempt of the 1965 Indian Everest Expedition along with H. C. S. Rawat and Phu Dorjee Sherpa. This was the first time three climbers stood on the summit together.

The Directorate of Ordnance is an authority under the Department of Defence Production (DDP) of Ministry of Defence (MoD), Government of India. Its primary work is to management, give instructions and make coordination of government Ordance production public companies. It is the main regulatory body of Indian Ordnance and its administration civil service, Indian Ordnance Factories Service (IOFS). The DOO(C&S) earlier known as Ordnance Factory Board (OFB), consisting of the Indian Ordnance Factories. In 2021, Government having corporatise the functions of the 41 Indian Ordnance Factories into 7 Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs), the Government is merging them again in 2024, as the output of one factory serves as the input of the other.

They are responsible for the administration of the Indian Ordnance Factories, which provide the indigenous defence production capabilities of India.

Nalini Ranjan Mohanty is a retired IOFS officer and former Chairman & Managing Director of the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). He is a former president of the Aeronautical Society of India (ASI) and has been the chairman and managing director of Textron India. A Fellow of the ASI and the Institution of Engineers (India), Mohanty received the Ruchi Prativa Samman in 2003. The Government of India awarded him the fourth-highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2004, for his contributions to Indian industrial sector.

Satish Kumar Kaura is an Indian technocrat, industrialist and the founder of Samtel Group, where he holds the post of the chairman. He is also the chairman and managing director of Samcor Glass Limited and the executive director of Samtel Colour Limited. An elected Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE), Kaura is the first recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2004, for his contributions to Indian industrial sector.

Venkat Sumantran is an Indian businessman, academic, and author. He has worked with the auto and mobility industry in the US, Europe, and India for over three decades. He is the Chairman of Celeris Technologies and a member of the board of directors for several organizations in the domains of automotive, electronics, and aviation. Santu Jouharmal Shahaney was an IOFS officer. He served as the first Indian Director General of the Indian Ordnance Factories. He was awarded Padma Shri in 1962, and Padma Bhushan in 1965, for his contributions during the Indo-China War of 1962 and the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965, respectively. He studied Mechanical Engineering at the Imperial College, London, then a constituent of the University of London. He died at the age of 48. His younger brother was Ram Shahaney, the first Chairman and Managing Director of Ashok Leyland, and Bhagwan Shahaney, a brigadier in the Indian Army and Chairman of Instrumentation Limited, Kota, he was a recipient of Padma Shri. All three brothers studied engineering in England.

Ramakant Maheshwar Muzumdar was an IOFS officer. He was the second Indian Director General of the Indian Ordnance Factories. He studied engineering at the University of Cambridge.
