Ron Schepper of Stylus Magazine called the album "a marvelous fusion of electronica and soul." [5] Michael Endelman of Entertainment Weekly said, "Loneliness, loss, and the darker side of soul music are the subjects of Telefon Tel Aviv's second album, a stunning collision of techno blips, lush strings, and swooning R&B vocals." [2] Sam Samuelson of AllMusic commented that "TTA manage to not only make their first great album, but also put in the first entry for the best of 2004." [1]

Telefon Tel Aviv is a New Orleans–derived, Chicago-based American electronic music act, formerly comprising Charles Cooper and Joshua Eustis. Since Cooper's accidental death in 2009, Telefon Tel Aviv has continued with Eustis as the sole official member. Eustis was also a touring member of Puscifer and Nine Inch Nails for a time.

Joshua Leeds Eustis is an American musician, singer-songwriter and record producer, best known as the current sole member of electronic music act, Telefon Tel Aviv, since the death of bandmate Charles Cooper in 2009. He served as a touring member for industrial rock act Nine Inch Nails in 2013 and has collaborated heavily over the years with Maynard James Keenan's solo project Puscifer, for which he also served as a touring member. Eustis' solo project is Sons of Magdalene, of which he began releasing music under in 2008. He is also a founding member of the band The Black Queen.

The Black Queen is an American electronic supergroup formed in Los Angeles in 2015. It was founded by lead singer Greg Puciato, keyboardist and guitarist Joshua Eustis and keyboardist and guitarist Steven Alexander.

Dreams Are Not Enough is the fourth studio album by Telefon Tel Aviv. It was released via Ghostly International on September 27, 2019. It is Joshua Eustis' first album under the Telefon Tel Aviv moniker since the 2009 passing of his bandmate Charles Cooper. Listed top to bottom on the album's front cover, the song titles form a poem.
