Marc Anton Johnson (born June 20,1948) is an American agricultural economist and academic administrator. He became the 16th president of the University of Nevada,Reno on April 16,2011,after his predecessor Milton Glick died while in office. [1]
Johnson was raised on a family farm near Wichita,Kansas. He earned a bachelor's degree in Biology from Emporia State University,Master of Technology in International Development from North Carolina State University,Master of Economics from Michigan State University,and a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from Michigan State University.
Johnson served as dean of the Colorado State University College of Agricultural Sciences and Kansas State University College of Agriculture. Johnson joined the faculty of the University of Nevada,Reno in June 2008 as vice president and provost.
On October 31,2019,it was announced that Johnson step down as president on June 30,2020,and transition to a position in the UNR College of Business. [2] [3] However,it was delayed until Brian Sandoval succeeded him as president on October 5,2020. [4]
The University of Nevada,Reno is a public land-grant research university in Reno,Nevada. It is the state's flagship public university and primary land grant institution. It was founded on October 12,1874,in Elko,Nevada.
Michigan State University is a public land-grant research university in East Lansing,Michigan. Raymond O. Courtright was an American football,basketball,and baseball player,coach of football,basketball,golf,and wrestling,and college athletics administrator. Courtright attended the University of Oklahoma where he played halfback for the football team from 1911 to 1913 and also competed in baseball,basketball and track. He was the head football coach at Pittsburg State University (1915–1917),the University of Nevada,Reno (1919–1923),and Colorado School of Mines (1924–1926). Courtright was also an assistant football coach (1927–1936),head golf coach (1929–1944) and head wrestling coach (1942–1944) at the University of Michigan.

The 1987 Nevada Wolf Pack football team was an American football team that represented the University of Nevada,Reno during the 1987 NCAA Division I-AA football season. Nevada competed as a member of the Big Sky Conference (BSC). The Wolf Pack were led by 12th-year head coach Chris Ault and played its home games at Mackay Stadium. The team was ranked No. 1 early in the season but finished with a 5–6 record –the program's first losing season under Ault.
