The Conservative Party of New York State is an American political party founded in 1962 following conservative dissatisfaction with the Republican Party in New York. Running on the Conservative Party line,James L. Buckley won election to the U.S. Senate in 1970 and served for one term. Since 2010,the party has held "Row C" on New York ballots—the third-place ballot position,directly below the Democratic and Republican parties—because it received the third-highest number of votes of any political party in the 2010,2014 and 2018 New York gubernatorial elections. The party is known for its strategy of attempting to influence the Republican Party in a more conservative direction.
The 2008 United States Senate elections were held on November 4,2008,with 35 of the 100 seats in the Senate being contested. Thirty-three seats were up for regular elections;the winners were eligible to serve six-year terms from January 3,2009,to January 3,2015,as members of Class 2. There were also two special elections,the winners of those seats would finish the terms that ended on January 3,2013. The presidential election,which was won by Democrat Barack Obama,elections for all House of Representatives seats;elections for several gubernatorial elections;and many state and local elections occurred on the same date.

They coincided with the election of President Lyndon B. Johnson by an overwhelming majority,to a full term. His Democratic Party picked up a net two seats from the Republicans. John L. Sampson is an American former politician and convicted felon. A Democrat,Sampson represented District 19 in the New York State Senate from 1997 to 2015. He is of Guyanese heritage. Sampson became Senate Democratic Leader in June 2009 and served as Senate Minority Leader from January 2011 to December 2012. Sampson forfeited his Senate seat when he was convicted of federal felony charges on July 24,2015. On January 18,2017,he was sentenced to five years in prison.
Antoine Maurice Thompson is an American politician from Buffalo,New York. A Democrat,Thompson represented the 60th District in the New York State Senate from 2007 to 2011. Thompson previously served as the Masten District councilman on the Buffalo Common Council from 2001 to 2007.

Mark John Grisanti is an American lawyer,politician,and judge from New York. After being elected to the New York State Senate in District 60 as a Republican in 2010,Grisanti took office as a State Senator on January 3,2011. Grisanti served in the State Senate from 2011 to 2014,when he was defeated in the Republican primary and in the general election. Grisanti was appointed to the New York State Court of Claims in May 2015 and later became an Acting Justice of the Supreme Court of the State of New York,Eighth Judicial District.
Timothy M. Kennedy is an American politician from New York. He is currently a Democratic member of the New York State Senate,representing the 63rd District since January 2013. He previously represented the 58th District from 2011 to 2013.

Shortey advocated 'family values' during his campaigns. During his tenure,he established a Republican consulting firm. Shortey was the state campaign chair for Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election.
The 2022 United States Senate elections were held on November 8,2022,concurrently with other midterm elections at the federal,state and local levels. Regularly scheduled elections were held for 34 of the 100 seats in the U.S. Senate,the winners of which will serve six-year terms beginning with the 118th United States Congress. Two special elections were held to complete unexpired terms. While pundits considered the Republican Party a slight favorite to gain control of the Senate,Senate Democrats outperformed expectations and expanded the majority they had held since 2021,gaining one seat for a functioning 51–49 majority.
The 2024 United States elections are scheduled to be held on Tuesday,November 5,2024. During this presidential election year,the president and vice president will be elected. In addition,all 435 seats in the United States House of Representatives and 34 of the 100 seats in the United States Senate will be contested to determine the membership of the 119th United States Congress. Thirteen state and territorial governorships and numerous other state and local elections will also be contested.
A general election was held in the U.S. state of Nebraska on November 6,2018. All of Nebraska's executive officers were up for election as well as a United States Senate seat,and all of Nebraska's three seats in the United States House of Representatives.
A special election was held to fill the remainder of the term in the United States House of Representatives for New York's 27th congressional district in the 116th United States Congress. The 2022 elections for the Illinois Senate occurred on November 8,2022 to elect Senators from all of the state's 59 Legislative districts in the Illinois Senate. The primary election took place on Tuesday,June 28,2022. The winners of this election will serve in the 103rd General Assembly with seats apportioned among the state based on the 2020 United States census. Under the Illinois Constitution of 1970,senators are divided into three groups with each group having a two-year term at a different part of the decade between censuses,with the rest of the decade being taken up by two four-year terms. The Democratic Party has held a majority in the Senate since 2003. The inauguration of the 103rd General Assembly occurred on Wednesday,January 11,2023.
