Marcia Anne Pankratz (born October 1, 1964) is an American former field hockey forward and current head coach for the Michigan Wolverines. Pankratz participated in two Summer Olympics. In 1988 she finished in eighth position with Team USA, in 1996 she claimed the fifth spot. Pankratz had 110 international appearances over the course of her career.
Pankratz attended Wakefield High School and the University of Iowa, where she played for the Hawkeyes. She finished her career with 76 goals to rank third among all-time Iowa goal scorers. She was chosen for the NCAA All-Tournament team in 1984 and was part of the first team of the Big Ten All-Decade Team (1981–91). She was named University of Iowa Female Athlete of the Year and was twice (1984 and 1985) selected All-American. She won the Big Ten Medal of Honor for 1985–86. [1]
Pankratz was vice-captain of Team USA from 1985–1996. She played with the team that won a bronze medal at the Hockey World Cup in 1986 and 1994, a bronze medal at the 1991 Pan American Games, a silver at the Pan Am Games in 1995, and a bronze at the 1995 Hockey Champions Trophy tournament. She scored three goals at the 1996 Olympic Games. [1]
She was assistant coach at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and was head coach at the University of Michigan when the Wolverines won the 2001 NCAA Championship, the first NCAA championship by a women's team in the history of Michigan athletics. [1] Pankratz has guided Michigan to seven Big Ten Tournament Championships and ten Big Ten regular-season titles during her tenure.
In 2017, Michigan swept the Big Ten regular-season and tournament championships and recorded a program-record 21 wins, including 18 in a row, en route to the NCAA Final Four. In 2020, Michigan swept the Big Ten regular-season and tournament championships, and advanced to the 2020 NCAA Championship where they lost in the championship game to North Carolina in overtime. Gordon Arthur "Red" Berenson is a Canadian former professional ice hockey centre and head coach of the Michigan Wolverines men's ice hockey team from 1984 to 2017. Berenson was inducted into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame in 2005 and the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 2018.
The Michigan Wolverines comprise 29 varsity sports teams at the University of Michigan. These teams compete in the NCAA's Division I and in the Big Ten Conference in all sports except women's water polo, which competes in the NCAA inter-divisional Collegiate Water Polo Association. Team colors are maize and blue, though these are different shades of "maize" and "blue" from those used by the university at large. The winged helmet is a recognized icon of Michigan Athletics.
The Michigan Wolverines men's basketball team is the intercollegiate men's basketball program representing the University of Michigan. The school competes in the Big Ten Conference in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The Wolverines play home basketball games at the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Michigan has won one NCAA Championship as well as two National Invitation Tournaments (NIT), 15 Big Ten Conference titles and two Big Ten tournament titles. In addition, it has won an NIT title and won a Big Ten tournament that were vacated due to NCAA sanctions. The team is coached by Michigan alum Juwan Howard.
Carol Sue Hutchins is an American former softball coach. In 38 years as the head coach of Michigan Wolverines softball, (1985–2022), she won more games than more than any other coach in University of Michigan history in any sport, male or female with 1,684 wins. Hutchins had a career record of 1,707 wins, 551 losses, and five ties, for a .759 winning percentage. She led the Wolverines to their first NCAA softball championship in 2005.
The Michigan Wolverines men's ice hockey team is the college ice hockey team that represents the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Earning varsity status in 1922, the program has competed in 100 seasons. Between 1959 and 1981, the team competed in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) before joining the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) until the 2012–13 season. Since the 2013–14 season, the Wolverines have competed in the Big Ten, which began sponsoring hockey.
The 1991–92 Michigan Wolverines men's basketball team represented the University of Michigan in intercollegiate college basketball during the 1991–92 season. The team played its home games in the Crisler Arena in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and was a member of the Big Ten Conference. Under the direction of head coach Steve Fisher, the team finished tied for third in the Big Ten Conference. The team earned an invitation to the 1992 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament where it was national runner up. Although the team compiled a 25–9 record during the season, the National Collegiate Athletic Association has adjusted the team's record to 24–8 due to the University of Michigan basketball scandal. The team was ranked for the entire eighteen weeks of Associated Press Top Twenty-Five Poll, starting the season ranked twentieth, rising as high as number eleven and ending ranked fifteenth, and it ended the season ranked seventeenth in the final USA Today/CNN Poll. The team had a 6–6 record against ranked opponents, including the following victories: January 9, 1992, against the number sixteen ranked Iowa Hawkeyes 80–77 (overtime) at Carver–Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City, Iowa, January 29 against the number thirteen ranked Michigan State Spartans 89–79 (overtime) at the Breslin Student Events Center in East Lansing, Michigan, March 8 against the number two ranked Indiana Hoosiers 68–60 at Crisler Arena, March 27 the number eleven ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys 75–72 in the 1992 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament at Rupp Arena, March 29 the number three ranked Ohio State Buckeyes 75–71 at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky, and April 4 against the number twelve ranked Cincinnati Bearcats 76–72 at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis.

The 1952–53 Michigan Wolverines men's ice hockey team represented the University of Michigan in college ice hockey. In its ninth year under head coach Vic Heyliger, the team compiled a 17–7–0 record, outscored opponents 139 to 71, and won the 1953 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournament. The season was the third consecutive, and the fourth overall under Vic Heyliger, in which the Michigan hockey team won the NCAA championship. The team also finished the regular season in at tie with Minnesota as the co-champion of the Midwest Collegiate Hockey League.

The school competes in the Big Ten Conference in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The Iowa field hockey team plays its home games at Dr. Christine H.B. Grant Field on the university campus in Iowa City, Iowa. The Hawkeyes have won 16 conference championships, six Big Ten tournament titles, and the 1986 NCAA Championship, making it the first Midwestern university to win a national title. As of 2014, the team is coached by Lisa Cellucci.
Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman is an American professional basketball player for Darüşşafaka Lassa of the Basketbol Süper Ligi (BSL). He played college basketball for the Michigan Wolverines. Abdur-Rahkman played high school basketball for Allentown Central Catholic High School in his hometown of Allentown, Pennsylvania, where he was a four-time Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Class AAA All-State selection.
The 2017–18 Michigan Wolverines men's hockey team was the Wolverines' 96th season. They represented the University of Michigan in the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's ice hockey season. The team was coached by Mel Pearson, in his first year as head coach, and played their home games at Yost Ice Arena. This season was the beginning of a new era, as long time head coach Red Berenson retired after 33 years of service as coach at Michigan. Michigan advanced to the Frozen Four for the first time since 2011, but lost to Notre Dame in the national semifinals after captain Jake Evans scored the game-winning goal with six seconds remaining.

He played college ice hockey for two years with the University of Michigan of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), reaching the Frozen Four both seasons. He was selected fourth overall by the Devils in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.
The 2022 Michigan Wolverines softball team was an American college softball team that represented the University of Michigan during the 2022 NCAA Division I softball season. The Wolverines, were led by head coach Carol Hutchins in her thirty-eighth season, and played their home games at Alumni Field in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
The 2023 Michigan Wolverines football team was an American football team that represented the University of Michigan in the East Division of the Big Ten Conference during the 2023 NCAA Division I FBS football season. In their ninth year under head coach Jim Harbaugh, the Wolverines compiled an undefeated 15–0 record, outscored opponents by a total of 538 to 156, and won their third consecutive Big Ten championship with a 26–0 victory over Iowa in the Big Ten Championship Game. Michigan was ranked No. 1 in the final College Football Playoff rankings and defeated No. 4 Alabama, 27–20 in overtime, in the 2024 Rose Bowl. They defeated No. 2 Washington, 34–13, in the 2024 College Football Playoff National Championship to claim their first CFP title and 12th national championship in program history, their first since 1997, and their first consensus championship since 1948. Their 303 rushing yards against Washington is a record high in a CFP National Championship game, and they were the first national champion to have a lead at halftime in every game of the season since Miami in 2001. Michigan also became the fourth team and first Big Ten team to complete a 15–0 season in the modern era, after Georgia in 2022, LSU in 2019, and Clemson in 2018. They were also ranked No. 1 in the AP and Coaches Polls for the first time since the 1997 season. With their win against Maryland on November 17, the Wolverines became the first program in college football history to record 1,000 wins.

Adamo Giuliano Fantilli is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre for the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was drafted third overall by the Blue Jackets in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. During his freshman season at the University of Michigan he was the leading goal and point-scorer and won the Hobey Baker Award, becoming the third freshman to win the award, after Paul Kariya in 1993 and Jack Eichel in 2015.

Mason Parris is an American freestyle and folkstyle wrestler who competes at 125 kilograms. In freestyle, he claimed the 2019 World Junior Wrestling Championships gold medal. As a folkstyle wrestler, he was the 2023 NCAA Division I national and Big Ten Conference champion at 285 pounds for the Michigan Wolverines, and the Dan Hodge Trophy winner.
