Mario Morales Micheo is a former Puerto Rican basketball player. Nicknamed "Quijote", he was known for his ability to conquer both scoring and team championships in Puerto Rico's BSN league. He is the father of Evansville Purple Aces women's volleyball coach Fernando Morales Lopez. And he also played for the Villanova Wildcats Men's Basketball team in 1975–76 season where he averaged 4.7 points and 1.5 rebounds and Villanova went 16–11.

Sports in Puerto Rico can be traced from the ceremonial competitions amongst the pre-Columbian Native Americans of the Arawak (Taíno) tribes who inhabited the island to the modern era in which sports activities consist of an organized physical activity or skill carried out with a recreational purpose for competition. One of the sports which the Taíno's played was a ball game called "Batey". The "Batey" was played in U-shaped fields two teams; however, unlike the ball games of the modern era, the winners were treated like heroes and the losers were sacrificed.

Jesús David "Jesse" Vassallo Anadón is a former competition swimmer and world record-holder in the 200 and 400 individual medley, who participated in the 1984 Summer Olympics for the United States. In 1997, he became the first Puerto Rican to be inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame. He was somewhat unique in the scale of his achievements as a swimmer, and in a tribute to his World Records in 1978 was voted Swimming World Magazine's "Male Swimmer of the Year". From 2004 to 2009, he served as the president of the Puerto Rican National Swimming Federation.
Turkey sent a delegation to compete at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway from 12–27 February. Turkey was making its 11th appearance at the Winter Olympic Games. The delegation consisted of a single athlete, cross-country skier Mithat Yıldırım. In his only event, he finished in 87th place.
Costa Rica sent a delegation to compete at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, United States from 13–24 February 1980. This was Costa Rica's debut appearance at a Winter Olympic Games, after five prior appearances at Summer Olympics. The only athlete sent by the country was alpine skier Arturo Kinch. In the only event he finished, the men's downhill, he placed 41st.

Puerto Rico competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics which was held in Beijing, People's Republic of China from August 8 to August 24, 2008. The appearance of the Puerto Rican delegation at the Beijing Olympics marked the commonwealth's sixteenth consecutive appearance at the Summer Olympics, and its twenty-second appearance at any Olympic Games, since its debut at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London, England. Of its competitors participating in events that involve progression by heats, six athletes advanced at least one round in their events, and two advanced at least two rounds, with Asunción Ocasio almost medaling bronze in taekwondo. However, there were no Puerto Rican medalists at the Beijing Olympics. McWilliams Arroyo, a boxer, bore Puerto Rico's flag at the ceremonies.
Marco Ray Evoniuk is a retired male race walker from the United States, who represented his native country at three consecutive Olympic Games, starting in 1984. Evoniuk had qualified for the 1980 U.S. Olympic team but was unable to compete due to the 1980 Summer Olympics boycott. He did however receive one of 461 Congressional Gold Medals created especially for the spurned athletes.
Ivan Mráz was a Czechoslovak football player and manager. A forward, he competed in the 1964 Summer Olympics and won the silver medal. Scored five goals in that Olympics Football Tournament. Besides Czechoslovakia, he played in the Netherlands. Mráz later suffered from Alzheimer's disease. He died at Saint Paul's Hospital in Heredia, Costa Rica, on 18 May 2024, at the age of 82, six days before his 83rd birthday.
Allan Francisco Segura Medina is a Costa Rican race walker. He represented Costa Rica at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where he became the nation's flag bearer at the opening ceremony. He competed in the men's 20 km race walk, where he finished in thirty-ninth place, with a time of 1:27:10. Segura achieved his best result in race walking, when he finished thirty-second at the 2008 IAAF World Race Walking Cup in Cheboksary, Russia, with the fastest possible time of 1:23:12.
Lucas Rafael Bennazar Ortiz is a Puerto Rican sport shooter. At age thirty-five, Bennazar made his official debut for the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, where he competed in two shotgun events. He placed twenty-seventh in the men's trap, with a score of 112 points, tying his position with France's Yves Tronc and Italy's Marco Venturini. Few days later, he competed for his second event, the double trap, where he was able to fire 3 sets of 50 shots, for an overall total score of 122 points, finishing only in twenty-third place.
