Maria Leonor Ribeiro Tavares, also known as Eleonor Tavares, (born 24 September 1985 in Paris, France) is a French-born Portuguese pole vaulter. She competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics. [1] [2]

Born in France to Portuguese parents of Cape Verdean descent, she has two older sisters who also compete in the pole vault, Sandra-Helena Homo and Elisabete Ansel. [3]

Her personal bests in the event are 4.50 metres outdoors (Albi 2011) and 4.43 metres indoors (Aulnay-sous-Bois 2014). Both are current national records.

Her personal best of 4.21 metres, set in 2006, was the Tunisian record for the event until it was surpassed by Dorra Mahfoudhi in Rabat 2019.

She ran in the sixth and final heat against six other athletes, including Kenya's Janeth Jepkosgei Busienei, who eventually won the silver medal in the final. Sandra-Helena Ribeiro Tavares Homo is a Portuguese pole vaulter. Tavares represented Portugal at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where she competed for the women's pole vault. She successfully cleared a height of 4.30 metres, finishing nineteenth overall in the qualifying rounds, and tying her position with Greece's Afroditi Skafida, and Poland's Joanna Piwowarska.

Elisabete Ribeiro Tavares Ansel is a Portuguese athlete specialising in the pole vault. Born to Portuguese parents of Cape Verdean descent, she has two younger sisters who also compete in the pole vault, Sandra-Helena Tavares and Maria Leonor Tavares.
