Maria Ruud (born 1961) is a Minnesota politician and a former member of the Minnesota House of Representatives who represented District 42A,which includes portions of western Hennepin County in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. [1]
A Democrat,Ruud was first elected in 2004 when she defeated incumbent Rep. Peter H. Adolphson. She was re-elected in 2006 and 2008,but was unseated by just 107 votes by Republican Kirk Stensrud in the 2010 general election. [2]
Ruud served as vice chair of the Energy Finance and Policy Division Committee,and was a member of the Education Finance and Economic Competitiveness Finance Division,the Health and Human Services,the Health Care and Human Services Finance Division,and the Mental Health Division committees. [3]
Ruud is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Minnesota School of Nursing. She graduated from Bloomington Jefferson High School in Bloomington,then went on to the University of Minnesota,receiving her B.S.N. She later earned her M.S.N. at the University of California,San Francisco and Doctorate of Nursing Practice from St Catherine University. [4] [5]
Tina Liebling is a Minnesota attorney and politician who is a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives. A member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL),she represents District 24B,which consists almost entirely of the city of Rochester in Olmsted County,in southeastern Minnesota. She was a candidate for the Governor of Minnesota in 2018,but withdrew from the race in mid-March.
Nora Bayly Slawik is a Minnesota politician,previously serving as Chairwoman of the Metropolitan Council,Maplewood Mayor and Minnesota State Representative. From 1997 to 1998 and 2001–2002,she represented District 57A,and from 2003 to 2012,she represented District 55B,which includes portions of Ramsey and Washington counties and the cities of Maplewood and Oakdale in the eastern part of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. She also has a history of community service before her time in office,including her development of Juniper as their Project Manager for the Metropolitan Area Agency on Aging from 2016 to 2017.
Karen J. Clark is an American politician and former member of the Minnesota House of Representatives. A member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL),she represented District 62A,which included portions of the city of Minneapolis in the Twin Cities metropolitan area including portions of the Whittier,Phillips,Ventura Village,Seward,and Lyn-Lake neighborhoods. She was the longest serving openly lesbian member to serve in a state legislature in the United States. On December 8,2017,Clark announced in a press release that she would not be running for reelection.
