The Uganda Securities Exchange (USE) is the principal stock exchange of Uganda. It was founded in June 1997. The USE is operated under the jurisdiction of Uganda's Capital Markets Authority, which in turn reports to the Bank of Uganda, Uganda's central bank.
Before Uganda's independence in 1962, the main banks in Uganda were Barclays ; Grindlays, Standard Bank and the Bank of Baroda from India. The currency was issued by the East African Currency Board, a London-based body. Equity Bank Uganda Limited (EBUL), is a commercial bank in Uganda. It is licensed by the Bank of Uganda, the central bank and national banking regulator. EBUL is a subsidiary of Equity Group Holdings Limited, a financial service conglomerate with headquarters in Kenya and subsidiaries in six countries of the African Great Lakes Region.
Umeme Limited is the largest energy distributor in Uganda, distributing about 97 percent of all electricity used in the country. The shares of the stock of the company are listed on the Uganda Securities Exchange (USE) and are cross listed on the Nairobi Stock Exchange (NSE). As of December 2021, the company's total assets were approximately UGX:2.664 trillion, with shareholders' equity of approximately UGX:893.15 billion.

Samuel Kisakye Sejjaaka is a Ugandan accountant, academic and businessman. He is Principal and Country Team Leader at MAT ABACUS Business School. Between 1993 and 2014, he lectured at Uganda's oldest tertiary institution, Makerere University and rose to the position of Deputy Principal. In December 2014, he retired from the institution at age 50. He then helped establish Abacus Business School, Uganda's premier executive education institution. In 2019, Abacus Business school merged with the Management Accountancy Training Company (MAT) to form MAT ABACUS Business School.
Selestino Babungi is an accountant and corporate executive in Uganda, the third-largest economy in the East African Community. He is the managing director and chief executive officer of Umeme, whose shares are traded on both the Uganda Securities Exchange and the Nairobi Stock Exchange, and is the largest independent power distribution company in Uganda. He was appointed in March 2015, and he assumed his current position on 1 April 2015, replacing Charles Chapman, whose term ended.

Florence Nakimbugwe Nsubuga, but commonly known as Florence Nsubuga, is a Ugandan businesswoman and corporate executive, who since 2012, serves as the chief operating officer (COO) of Umeme Limited, the largest electricity distribution company in Uganda, whose stock trades of the Uganda Securities Exchange and on the Nairobi Stock Exchange. Effective March 2015, she concurrently serves as a member of the board of directors of Umeme.

Justine Nakagiri Ssemwanga,, is a Ugandan accountant, auditor and corporate executive, who served as the Head of Internal Audit at Umeme Limited, the largest distributor of electric power in Uganda, for the one year ending in June 2018.
Nicholas John Okwir is a Ugandan accountant, banker and business executive, who served as the founding managing director and chief executive officer of Housing Finance Bank, Uganda's largest mortgagee lender, between November 2007 until December 2013.
Mumba Kalifungwa, is a Zambian accountant and corporate executive, who is the managing director and chief executive officer of Absa Bank Uganda Limited, a commercial bank in Uganda, whose assets were valued at US$665 million in December 2017. He took up this assignment on 1 April 2020.
Anthony Kituuka is a Ugandan accountant, business executive and banker. He is the managing director and chief executive officer of Equity Bank Uganda, a commercial bank in that country, effective November 2022.
