The swimming competitions of the 1984 Summer Olympics were held at the McDonald's Olympic Swim Stadium, located on the University of Southern California (USC) campus. There were a total of 494 participants from 67 countries competing.

He coached for many years at the Western Hills Athletic Club and has helped coach the Longhorns swim camp in 2019 as well as other years. Since Spring of 2022 when the new facility opened, Crocker coaches at the Western Aquatics and Social Club at the Eanes Independent School District Aquatics center.
Emiliano Brembilla is a freestyle swimmer from Italy who was five-time individual European Champion, four in 400 m freestyle and one in 1500 m freestyle (1997).
Robert Steven Genter is an American former competition swimmer and three-time Olympic medalist. He was a freestyle specialist who earned a gold medal as a member of the winning U.S. team in the 4×200-meter freestyle relay at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, Germany. Glenn Andrew Mark Snyders is a South African-born former competitive swimmer for New Zealand. He won the silver medal in the 50 m breaststroke at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in a time of 27.67 seconds. He currently holds the New Zealand records for 50 m, 100 m and 200 m breaststroke in both long course and short course.
Andrew Mark Rutherfurd Aliaga is a Bolivian swimmer. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, he competed in the Men's 100 metre freestyle, finishing in 41st place overall in the heats, failing to qualify for the semifinals. Rutherfurd is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Alexandru Coci is a Romanian swimmer, who specialized in butterfly events. He is a Romanian swimming champion and record holder in butterfly, individual medley, relay events, and honorable mention All-American in the 100 m butterfly. Coci also became the first swimmer for the University of Alabama to break a 47-second barrier, when he posted a time of 46.50 seconds in the same stroke at the NCAA Division I Championships.
David "Dave" Charles Johnson is an American former competition swimmer and 1968 Mexico City Olympic competitor. He graduated Yale Medical School, and became an orthopaedic surgeon, specializing in sports medicine.
Julianne Kirchner is an American and Marshallese swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle events. Having moved with her family to the Marshall Islands at a very young age because of her father's occupation, Kirchner acquired a dual citizenship to participate internationally for her new homeland in swimming at the 2008 Summer Olympics.

Conrad Anthony Francis is a Sri Lankan former swimmer, who specialized in butterfly events. He is a two-time Olympian, a three-time swimmer at the Commonwealth Games, and a double gold medalist in the 50 and 100 m butterfly at the Asian Age Group Championships. Francis also became the first Sri Lankan to swim the same stroke under 56 seconds, when he competed at the 2004 FINA World Short Course Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Leonel dos Santos Matonse is a Mozambican swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle events. Matonse qualified for the men's 100 m freestyle, as a 15-year-old, at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, by receiving a Universality place from FINA, in an entry time of 59.87. He challenged six other swimmers in heat one, including 34-year-old Mumtaz Ahmed of Pakistan. He set a Mozambican record of 57.79 to earn a third spot by nearly a second behind winner Mohammed Abbas of Iraq. Matonse failed to advance into the semifinals, as he placed sixty-fifth overall out of 71 swimmers in the preliminaries.
Mumtaz Ahmed is a Pakistani former swimmer, who specialised in sprint freestyle events. Ahmed qualified for the men's 100 m freestyle, as a 34-year-old, at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. He received a Universality place from FINA in an entry time of 57.48. He challenged six other swimmers in heat one, including 15-year-old Leonel Matonse of Mozambique. He overhauled a one-minute barrier, and saved a sixth spot over Burundi's Emery Nziyunvira by more than 10 seconds in 59.19. Ahmed failed to advance into the semifinals, as he placed sixty-eighth overall out of 71 swimmers in the preliminaries.
Oren Eliahu Azrad is an Israeli former swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle events. He represented Israel at the 2000 Summer Olympics, and also earned Southeastern Conference and All-American honors as a member of the University of Alabama's swimming and diving team, while studying in the United States
Colin Herring is a New Zealand swimmer. He competed in two events at the 1972 Summer Olympics and is New Zealand Olympian number 280. His son Mark swam for New Zealand at the 2008 Summer Olympics.
