Mark Martin (born January 21, 1956) [2] [1] is an American cartoonist known for lighthearted humor and satire. He grew up in Leeds, Alabama.
Martin's first major work in the 1980s was Gnatrat, a parody of Batman, featuring a rat who dresses as a gnat to fight crime. He went on to work on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series, and created "20 Nude Dancers 20," a long-running humor strip featured in Comics Buyer's Guide .
As an editor, Martin created the anthology Hyena and briefly oversaw a humor section in Heavy Metal . He also edited the first edition of Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics .
Martin then moved toward working almost exclusively in children's comics, often for Nickelodeon's Nickelodeon Magazine , while producing other work for his website.
His collaborations with long-time friend Jim Woodring include the children's series Tantalizing Stories , and several minicomics featuring their characters Frank and Montgomery Wart.
Martin is often mistaken for the race-car driver Mark Martin; this is a frequent subject of his comics in recent years[ when? ].

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is an American media franchise created by the comic book authors Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. It follows Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo, four anthropomorphic turtle brothers trained in ninjutsu who fight evil in New York City. Supporting characters include the turtles' rat sensei Splinter, their human friends April O'Neil and Casey Jones, and enemies such as Baxter Stockman, Krang, and their archenemy, the Shredder.
Michelangelo, nicknamed Mike or Mikey, is a fictional superhero and one of the four main characters of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics and all related media. Michaelangelo is the most naturally skilled of the four brothers but prefers to have a good time rather than train. The youngest of the group, he is shown to be rather immature; he is known for his wisecracks, love of skateboarding, witty optimism, and, like his brothers, love of pizza. He is usually depicted wearing an orange eye mask. His signature weapons are dual nunchaku, though he has also been portrayed using other weapons, such as a grappling hook, manriki-gusari, tonfa, and a three-section staff.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is the fictional comic book team created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird and have appeared in six feature-length films since their debut. The first film, titled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, was released in 1990 at the height of the franchise's popularity and, despite mixed reviews from critics, was a commercial success. The success of the film garnered two direct sequels, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze in 1991 and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III in 1993, both of which were modest successes. During a revival of the franchise prompted by the successful 2003–2009 TV series, a separate computer-generated imagery (CGI) film titled TMNT was released in 2007. A fifth film by Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies was released in 2014, and served as a reboot to the original live-action films.
