Mark Sherwin Inch [5] [6] is an American correctional officer and retired United States Army major general who served as the 9th Director of the Federal Bureau of Prisons of the United States. He resigned from that position on May 18,2018. [7]
U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions named Inch to head the Federal Bureau of Prisons in the Department of Justice (DOJ) on August 1,2017. Inch,who also holds degrees in geography and archaeology,had supervised prisons of the United States Army for two years. [8] Inch assumed office as Director of the Federal Bureau of Prisons on September 18,2017. [9] On January 3,2019,Governor-elect Ron DeSantis of Florida announced that Inch would head the Florida Department of Corrections. On May 2,2019,Inch was confirmed by the Florida Senate as the Secretary of Corrections. November 19,2021 Inch announced his retirement and was replaced by Deputy Secretary Ricky D. Dixon.

Meide Jr.,known as Chuck Meide,is an underwater and maritime archaeologist and currently the Director of LAMP,the research arm of the St. Augustine Lighthouse &Maritime Museum located in St. Augustine,Florida. He earned BA and MA degrees in Anthropology with a focus in underwater archaeology in 1993 and 2001 from Florida State University,where he studied under George R. Charles E. Samuels Jr. is the 8th and former director of the United States Federal Bureau of Prisons,and the first African-American to be appointed to that post. He is a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham,where he received his B.S. in Criminal Justice in 1987 and in 2012 received the school's Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award. As director,he was responsible for the oversight and management of the Bureau of Prisons,which employs more than 39,000 staff and confines over 200,000 inmates under jurisdiction of the agency. As a career public administrator,he was appointed director of the federal agency on December 21,2011 by Attorney General Eric Holder,and is the eighth director since the BOP's establishment in 1930.
