Orlando Marriott World Center

The Marriott's Orlando World Center Resort is a hotel and convention center near Orlando, Florida. The resort, which is close by to Walt Disney World, is located off of World Center Drive, which was renamed from International Drive to the resort's namesake after the southern extension of I-Drive was built.

Orlando is a city in the U.S. state of Florida and the county seat of Orange County. Located in Central Florida, it is the center of the Orlando metropolitan area, which had a population of 2,509,831, according to U.S. Census Bureau figures released in July 2017. International Drive, commonly known as I-Drive, is a major 11.1-mile (17.9 km) thoroughfare in Orlando, Florida, United States, and is the city's main tourist strip. I-Drive is located several miles southwest of proper Downtown Orlando in the southernmost limits of the city. The International Drive area serves a similar purpose to that of the Las Vegas Strip in Las Vegas as the core of the tourism area.

Resort property

Marriott's Orlando World Center opened on March 24, 1986, which at the time was the largest hotel in Florida, and is now the largest Marriott in the World. [2] The 2,008-room, 28-story building contains a nine-story lobby atrium, 38,000-square-foot (3,500 m2)and also has the largest pillar free ballroom in the world featuring 105,000 square feet (9,800 m2) of meeting space. In total there is more than 450,000 square feet (42,000 m2) of meeting space, six swimming pools (the main lagoon pool is the largest and best rated in all of Orlando), and 10 restaurants and lounges. [3] The 200-acre (0.81 km2) resort property is also home to the 18-hole Hawk's Landing Golf Course, and the Marriott Vacation Club resorts of Marriott's Sabal Palms, Marriott's Royal Palms and Marriott's Imperial Palm Villas.

Marriott Vacation Club

Marriott Vacation Club is the primary timeshare brand of Marriott Vacations Worldwide Corporation. The brand comprises more than 70 Marriott Vacation Club properties throughout the United States, Caribbean, Europe, and Asia and more than 400,000 owners. Marriott Vacation Club resorts consist of one, two, and three-bedroom villas.

In 2002, the hotel completed building a brand new 500 room tower which made the hotel the World's Largest Marriott.

In 2007, the hotel added 104,000 square feet of meeting space called the Cypress Ballroom which now connects with the Convention Center.

In 2008, the resort was awarded Green Lodging certification by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. [4]

Green lodges are lodges, hotels, motels, inns and resorts which meet the standards for environmental responsibility. In the United States, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Vermont and Virginia have implemented certification programs to identify facilities which have implemented continuing programs to conserve natural resources, reduce waste and minimizing pollution. Green Lodge is an online guide to U.S. green hotels and details and ranks the hotels in each of the state's green programs. In addition, Green Lodge includes hotels participating in the Energy Star program or have won sustainability awards in other states.

Florida Department of Environmental Protection

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) is the Florida government agency charged with environmental protection. It is under the nominal control of the governor.

In the Nickelodeon show Get the Picture , winning contestants could win trips to the Orlando Marriott World Center. Photos of the resort circa 1991-1993 can be seen on the show.

Marriott currently partners with Encore Event Technologies. Encore provides in-house audiovisual services to guests, corporations, and hotel staff.

Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center

Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center is a hotel and convention center, opened in Kissimmee, Florida, on February 2, 2002. It also acts as the de facto convention center for Osceola County, Florida, until plans for their own dedicated convention center are realized. With 400,000 sq ft (37,000 m2) of total meeting space, the Gaylord Palms has the second most meeting space of any hotel in the state of Florida. It also has a total of 1,406 guest rooms.

Bonnet Creek Resort is a 70-acre (28 ha) enclave in the southeast corner of Walt Disney World. Although it is accessible only from inside the gates of Walt Disney World, it is not owned by Disney. It is bordered on three sides by Disney-owned land and on the fourth side by Interstate 4. It is surrounded by the Bonnet Creek nature preserve and is named after Bonnet Creek, which runs through the property. The entrance is located on Buena Vista Drive, just east of the entrance to Disney's Riviera Resort.

Disney's Coronado Springs Resort is a resort hotel at the Walt Disney World Resort that opened on August 1, 1997. The resort is located in the Animal Kingdom Resort Area. Its theme is American colonial Spanish and southwestern American. This hotel is categorized as a 'moderate' resort. This was Walt Disney World's first attempt at a 'moderate' resort with a convention center. It is the only moderate level Disney resort with suites, a cafeteria-style restaurant, a formal dinner restaurant, a gift shop, an arcade, one large pool, three quiet pools, a salon, fitness center, and a dance club. The resort is owned and operated by Disney Parks, Experiences and Products. In February 2017, a large expansion was announced, with the centerpiece being a 15 story tower located near the entrance and convention center. Other things added are "floating gardens and a oasis which connects to the rest of the resort via a series of bridges".

Birmingham–Jefferson Convention Complex architectural structure

The Birmingham–Jefferson Convention Complex is a sports, convention and entertainment complex located in Birmingham, Alabama. The Sheraton Birmingham and Westin Birmingham are located on the complex adjoining the convention center.
