Brooklyn is a borough of New York City. Located on the westernmost end of Long Island,it is coextensive with Kings County in the U.S. state of New York. With 2,736,074 residents as of the 2020 United States census,Kings County is the most populous of the five boroughs of New York City and the most populous county in the State of New York. The population density of Brooklyn was 37,339.9 inhabitants per square mile (14,417.0/km2) in 2022,making it the second-most-densely-populated county in the United States,behind Manhattan,and it had the ninth-highest population of any county nationwide. Were Brooklyn still an independent city,it would be the fourth most populous in the U.S. after the rest of New York City,Los Angeles,and Chicago.
Prospect Park is an urban park in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. The park is situated between the neighborhoods of Park Slope,Prospect Heights,Prospect Lefferts Gardens,Flatbush,and Windsor Terrace,and is adjacent to the Brooklyn Museum,Grand Army Plaza,and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. With an area of 526 acres (213 ha),Prospect Park is the second-largest public park in Brooklyn,behind Marine Park. Designated as a New York City scenic landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places,Prospect Park is operated by the Prospect Park Alliance and NYC Parks.
Flatbush is a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. The neighborhood consists of several subsections in central Brooklyn and is generally bounded by Prospect Park to the north,East Flatbush to the east,Midwood to the south,and Kensington and Parkville to the west. The modern neighborhood includes or borders several institutions of note,including Brooklyn College.
Kensington is a neighborhood in the central portion of the New York City borough of Brooklyn,located south of Prospect Park and Green-Wood Cemetery. It is bordered by Coney Island Avenue to the east;Fort Hamilton Parkway and Caton Avenue to the north;McDonald Avenue,Dahill Road or 36th Street to the west;and Ditmas Avenue or Foster Avenue to the south. Kensington and Parkville are bordered by the Prospect Park South and Ditmas Park subsections of Flatbush to the east;Windsor Terrace to the north;Borough Park to the west;and Midwood to the south.
Prospect Heights is a neighborhood in the northwest of the New York City borough of Brooklyn. The traditional boundaries are Flatbush Avenue to the west,Atlantic Avenue to the north,Eastern Parkway –beginning at Grand Army Plaza –to the south,and Washington Avenue to the east. In the northern section of Prospect Heights are the Vanderbilt Rail Yards,built over as part of the Pacific Park project. The Barclays Center,home to the NBA's Brooklyn Nets basketball team,is located in the northwestern corner of the neighborhood in Pacific Park at Flatbush and Atlantic Avenues.
Flatbush Avenue is a major avenue in the New York City Borough of Brooklyn. It runs from the Manhattan Bridge south-southeastward to Jamaica Bay,where it joins the Marine Parkway–Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge,which connects Brooklyn to the Rockaway Peninsula in Queens. The north end was extended from Fulton Street to the Manhattan Bridge as "Flatbush Avenue Extension".
Atlantic Avenue is a major thoroughfare in the New York City boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens. It stretches from the Brooklyn waterfront on the East River all the way to Jamaica,Queens. Atlantic Avenue runs parallel to Fulton Street for much of its course through Brooklyn,where it serves as a border between the neighborhoods of Prospect Heights and Fort Greene and between Bedford-Stuyvesant and Crown Heights,and between Brooklyn Heights and Cobble Hill. This stretch of avenue is known for having a high rate of pedestrian fatalities and has been described as "the killing fields of the city."

Pacific Park is a mixed-use commercial and residential development project by Forest City Ratner that will consist of 17 high-rise buildings,under construction in Prospect Heights,adjacent to Downtown Brooklyn,Park Slope,and Fort Greene in Brooklyn,New York City. The project overlaps part of the Atlantic Terminal Urban Renewal Area,but also extends toward the adjacent brownstone neighborhood. Of the 22-acre (8.9 ha) project,8.4 acres (3.4 ha) is located over a Long Island Rail Road train yard. A major component of the project is the Barclays Center sports arena,which opened on September 21,2012. Formerly named Atlantic Yards,the project was renamed by the developer in August 2014 as part of a rebranding.

Howard Golden was an American lawyer and politician in the Democratic Party who served as the borough president of Brooklyn from January 3,1977,to December 31,2001. He concurrently served as chairman of the Brooklyn Democratic Party from January 1984 to October 1990. Golden also served on the New York City Council from 1970 until 1976.
Ditmas Park is a historic district in the neighborhood of Flatbush in Brooklyn,New York City. The traditional boundaries of Ditmas Park,including Ditmas Park West,are Ocean Avenue and greater Flatbush to the east,Dorchester Road and the Prospect Park South neighborhood to the north,Coney Island Avenue and the Kensington neighborhood to the west,and Newkirk Avenue to the south. The name Ditmas Park is often used as a shorthand for the several neighborhoods that comprise the larger area of Victorian Flatbush.

Eastern Parkway is a major east–west boulevard in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. Designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux,it was built between 1870 and 1874 and has been credited as the world's first parkway. West Midwood is a planned community and historic enclave in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. West Midwood is located in central Brooklyn in the southern edge of the community of Victorian Flatbush,abutting the northern boundary of the community of Midwood. It is bordered by Foster Avenue to the north,the BMT Brighton subway line to the east,Avenue H to the south,and Coney Island Avenue to the west. West Midwood is located south of Prospect Park within what is sometimes referred to as Ditmas Park.
