The election to choose all elected positions in the counties of Maryland occurred on Tuesday, November 7, 2006. The Maryland County Executive Election, 2006, U.S. House election, 2006, U.S. Senate election, 2006, Maryland gubernatorial election, 2006, and Maryland General Assembly Election, 2006 were scheduled for the same day. Seven charter counties chose elected officeholders in their county: Anne Arundel County, Baltimore County, Harford County, Howard County, Montgomery County, Prince George's County, and Wicomico County.

Anne Arundel County, Maryland County in the United States

Anne Arundel County, also notated as AA or A.A. County, is a county located in the U.S. state of Maryland. As of the 2010 United States Census, its population was 537,656, a population increase of just under 10% since 2000. Its county seat is Annapolis, which is also the capital of the state. The county is named for Lady Anne Arundell (1615–1649), a member of the ancient family of Arundells in Cornwall, England, and the wife of Cecilius Calvert, 2nd Baron Baltimore (1605–1675), founder and first Lord Proprietor of the colony Province of Maryland.

Baltimore County is third-most populous county located in the U.S. state of Maryland and is part of the Baltimore metropolitan area and Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area. Along with Washington, D.C. and its suburbs, Baltimore County forms the southern anchor of the Northeast megalopolis, which stretches northward to Boston. Baltimore County hosts a diversified economy, with particular emphasis on education, government, and health care.

Annapolis, Maryland Capital of Maryland

Annapolis is the capital of the U.S. state of Maryland, as well as the county seat of Anne Arundel County. Situated on the Chesapeake Bay at the mouth of the Severn River, 25 miles (40 km) south of Baltimore and about 30 miles (50 km) east of Washington, D.C., Annapolis is part of the Baltimore–Washington metropolitan area. Its population was measured at 38,394 by the 2010 census.

Janet S. Owens is an American politician and Democrat who served as County Executive of Anne Arundel County, Maryland, for two terms, from 1998 until 2007. She is a resident of Millersville, Maryland. She was the first female county executive of Anne Arundel County. As County Executive, she was seen as a moderate, frequently implementing more conservative policies than the County Council, which is now led by Republicans. After conducting polling regarding her chances of being re-elected to her former position of County Executive, Owens decided against running for the Democratic nomination in June 2010.

C. Edward Middlebrooks, is an American politician. Most recently, he was a member of the County Council for District 2 of Anne Arundel County, Maryland. A Republican, he served as the Council's Chairperson until his term ended in December 2010.

John Robinson Leopold is an American politician who served as Anne Arundel County Executive from 2006 to 2013. As a Republican, he served as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates for 18 years. In 2013, he was found guilty of misconduct resulting in a jail sentence and fine, and he was suspended from office. He resigned on February 1, 2013 and was succeeded by Laura Neuman, after a vote by the Anne Arundel County Council.

2006 Maryland Comptroller election

The 2006 Maryland Comptroller election was held on November 7, 2006. Incumbent Democratic State Comptroller William Donald Schaefer ran for a third term, but was defeated in the Democratic primary by Peter Franchot, a State Delegate from Montgomery County. On the Republican side, Anne McCarthy, the former dean of the University of Baltimore business school, won a crowded primary and faced off against Franchot. In the general election, Franchot defeated McCarthy and became the next Comptroller of Maryland.

Ron George American politician

Ronald Alan George is a former Republican member of the Maryland House of Delegates. George has announced plans to run in 2018 for the state Senate in District 30, which includes Annapolis. He sought the Republican nomination for Governor of Maryland in 2014, but finished fourth in the primary. From January, 2007 to January, 2015 he represented District 30 in the Maryland General Assembly located within Anne Arundel County. Before redistricting, he shared this district with Democratic member House Speaker Michael E. Busch and Republican Herbert H. McMillan. After redistricting, George was no longer living in District 30, but rather District 33. In December 2014, George expressed interest in being appointed to the District 33 House of Delegates seat vacated by Cathy Vitale, who was appointed a judge. George has been a successful Maryland business owner for over 20 years. He owns Ron George Jewelers located in Annapolis and formerly in Severna Park.

Steven R. Schuh was the County Executive of Anne Arundel County, Maryland, and a former member of the Maryland House of Delegates, serving two terms in the Maryland General Assembly representing District 31. Schuh was elected County Executive in 2014 after defeating incumbent Laura Neuman in the Republican primary and defeating former three-term Sheriff George Johnson in the General Election. He is the ninth Anne Arundel County Executive. He was defeated in his bid for re-election in 2018 by Steuart Pittman.

Robert A. Costa American politician

Robert A. Costa was a member of the Maryland House of Delegates, and until his retirement represented District 33B, which is located in Anne Arundel County. He defeated Democrat Mike Shay in the 2006 election. In 2002 he defeated Democrat Dotty Chaney to initially capture the seat of this newly created district. He announced his retirement in 2014. He was succeeded by Sid Saab, real estate investor and the first member of the Maryland General Assembly to have been born in Lebanon.

The 2008 congressional elections in Maryland were held on November 4, 2008 to determine who would represent the state of Maryland in the United States House of Representatives, coinciding with the presidential election. Representatives are elected for two-year terms; those elected serve in the 111th Congress from January 3, 2009 until January 3, 2011.

Phillip D. Bissett, was a member of the Maryland House of Delegates, District 30 in Anne Arundel County and is a former Republican candidate for Anne Arundel County Executive.

Herbert H. McMillan American politician

Herbert H. McMillan is a Republican former member of the Maryland House of Delegates, representing District 30 in Anne Arundel County, MD from 2003 to 2007 and from 2011 to 2019. He served alongside Democrat Michael E. Busch and Republican Ron George. In 2006 he challenged District 30 Senator John Astle, a Democrat, who defeated him 53 percent to 47 percent.

Joshua Jackson "Josh" Cohen is an American Democratic politician and former mayor of Annapolis, Maryland. Cohen, a Democrat, gained 46.5 percent of the vote to defeat Republican nominee David Cordle and independent candidate Chris Fox in the 2009 mayoral election. Cohen, who served previously on the Anne Arundel County Council and the Annapolis City Council, succeeded Ellen Moyer as Annapolis' chief executive on Dec. 7, 2009.

2014 United States House of Representatives elections in Maryland

The 2014 United States House of Representatives elections in Maryland were held on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 to elect the eight U.S. Representatives from the state of Maryland, one from each of the state's eight congressional districts. The elections coincided with other elections to the United States Senate and House of Representatives and various state and local elections, including the Governor of Maryland, Attorney General of Maryland and Comptroller of Maryland.

Cathy Vitale is a Circuit Court Judge for Anne Arundel County, Maryland. A Republican, she represented District 33A in the Maryland House of Delegates from January 12, 2011 to February 23, 2015, resigning to serve on the bench.

Mike Pantelides

Michael John Pantelides is an American politician who formerly served as the mayor of the city of Annapolis, Maryland. He is a member of the Republican Party. Pantelides was elected in November 2013, defeating incumbent Josh Cohen. Pantelides was 30 years old at the time of his election and was the city's first Republican mayor in more than a decade.
