Masunda Lake, also known as Talavpali Lake, is a lake situated in Thane , India. [1] It is considered to be among the most picturesque lakes in the state of Maharashtra. The lake is home to a small island with a Shiv temple on it [2]
Earlier the Masunda Lake extended up to the Kopineshwar Mandir in the east but in the 1950s, the construction of a new road drastically reduced its area. [3]
Masunda lake is approximately about 15 minutes walking distance from the Thane railway station. The lake is also a favourite amongst the locals for evening leisure and recreational activities like boating.
Bandra also known as Vandre is an upscale coastal suburb located in Mumbai, India. The suburb is located to the immediate north of the Mithi River, which separates Bandra from Mumbai City district. Thane Creek is an inlet in the shoreline of the Arabian Sea that isolates the city of Mumbai (Bombay) from the Konkan region of the Indian mainland. It comprises the area between Mumbra Retibunder and the Mankhurd-Vashi Bridge. The creek is divided into two parts. The first part lies between Ghodbunder and Thane (Thana), a section from where the Ulhas river flows from the north of Mumbai Island to meet the Arabian Sea on the west. The second part of the waterway lies between the city of Thane and the Arabian Sea at Trombay / Uran, before the Gharapuri islands.
New Panvel is a residential, commercial and educational node of Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra and comes under the Konkan division. New Panvel was developed on marshy land and was previously a Mango cultivated area. New Panvel is divided into two parts: New Panvel (E), on the eastern side of Panvel railway station and Khanda Colony or New Panvel (W) on the western side of it. Both parts of New Panvel are connected by a flyover bridge also known as Khanda Colony Flyover. Kopineshwar Mandir is a temple dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva and is considered the patron god of Thane. The Shivalinga inside the temple is considered one of the largest in Maharashtra, India.
