Roger Miret and the Disasters are a street punk group formed by Agnostic Front frontman Roger Miret. The band started when Miret was writing songs that were not a style suitable for Lady Luck or Agnostic Front, so he starting recording them on his own on a Boss recorder. Johnny Rioux had previously mentioned he would like to work with him, so Rioux helped Miret on what originally started as a solo project. Then Miret met Rhys Kill, who liked the material and joined in on the project. The band then recorded a demo tape, with Miret and Kill on guitar, Rioux on bass and Matt Kelly from the Dropkick Murphys on drums. That six-song demo found reviewed by Lars Frederiksen, who passed it off to his Rancid bandmate Tim Armstrong. He asked Miret to put his project out on Hellcat Records. As Kelly could not continue with Miret due to his commitments with Dropkick Murphys, Miret asked Johnny Kray of The Krays and New York Rel-X to join on drums. After a couple rehearsals, they decided to make it a band.
The Tennessee Three was the backing band for singer Johnny Cash for nearly 25 years; he was known especially for his country/rockabilly style, although he won awards in numerous categories. In 1980, he reorganized the group, expanding it and naming it the Great Eighties Eight. The band provided the unique backing that would come to be recognized by fans as "the Johnny Cash sound."
Classic Cash: Hall of Fame Series is the 74th album by the American country singer Johnny Cash, released on Mercury Records in 1988. It consists entirely of re-recordings of songs already associated with Cash from his Sun and Columbia days. The album has been both criticized and praised because of the use of several modern production techniques, including synthesizers, in an attempt to update and modernize Cash's earlier songs.
American Nervoso is the first studio album by American metalcore band Botch, released in 1998 through Hydra Head Records. It was re-issued in 2007, with five bonus tracks appended to the end of the record, consisting of demos and extended versions. The re-issue includes demos, extended versions of songs and the two opening measures of "Hives", which were accidentally clipped off in the original mastering, and was remastered by Matt Bayles sometime in 2006.
João Donato de Oliveira Neto was a Brazilian jazz and bossa nova pianist as well as a trombonist from Rio Branco. He first worked with Altamiro Carrilho and went on to perform with Antonio Carlos Jobim and Astrud Gilberto. Because of the area he grew up in Brasil he was able to hear Cuban music on the radio. This influence would manifest itself in many of his compositions, piano, and trombone playing. Donato's most well-known compositions include: "Amazonas", "Lugar Comum", "Simples Carinho", "Até Quem Sabe" and "Nasci Para Bailar".
Maior Abandonado is the third album by Brazilian rock band Barão Vermelho, released in 1984. It is their most critically acclaimed and generally considered their best album. It contains their biggest hit "Bete Balanço". This was the last album with singer and main lyricist Cazuza, who left the band in 1985.
"Big River" is a song written and originally recorded by Johnny Cash. Released as a single by Sun Records in 1958, it went as high as #4 on the Billboard country music charts and stayed on the charts for 14 weeks.
Deckdisc is a Brazilian record company that was founded in 1998.
"Shining Star" is a popular song written by the American songwriters and music producers Leo Graham and Paul Richmond. The song was recorded in 1980 by popular American R&B vocal group The Manhattans and released the same year on the album After Midnight. "Shining Star" was released as a single in 1980 and peaked at number 4 on the US Billboard R&B chart, and number 5 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. The song was most successful in New Zealand, where it reached position number 2; the same position that it also reached in the Black Oriented Singles of the Record World magazine in the USA. Although it did not reach the number-one on any chart, "Shining Star" was The Manhattans's highest-charting hit since the worldwide hit "Kiss and Say Goodbye" released in 1976.
Dead Fish is a Brazilian hardcore band that formed in Vitória, Espírito Santo, in 1991. After releasing four independent albums and numerous demos, they reached the mainstream market and garnered national attention with their breakthrough album Zero e Um, released by Deckdisc in 2004. For the title track from this album, they won an MTV Video Music Brazil award for Best New Artist. They went on to win Best Hardcore Video at the 2009 MTV Video Awards.
Patife Band is a Brazilian post-punk band formed in São Paulo in 1983 by Paulo Barnabé, initially under the name Paulo Patife Band. They are considered to be one of the major exponents of the "Vanguarda Paulistana" movement. Characterized by its heavily experimental and almost non-descript musical style, that uses dodecaphonism and atonality as main principles of composition and flirts with many different genres such as jazz, punk rock, traditional Brazilian music and popular music, it was favorably compared to American band Pere Ubu, and one critic at some point called their sound "a crossing between King Crimson and Fear".
Pior Cenário Possível is the seventh and final studio album by Brazilian cowpunk band Matanza. It is the first album by the band to have two guitarists and it is also the last to feature bassist China. It was recorded at Tambor Studios, in Rio de Janeiro, and it was produced by Rafael Ramos, who also produced Nheengatu by Titãs and Setevidas by Pitty. It was released on 14 April 2015. All instruments were recorded simultaneously.

Zumbi do Mato was a Brazilian experimental and noise rock band from Rio de Janeiro famous for their humorous, surreal songs, written in a stream of consciousness-esque way and filled with acerbic allusions to popular culture – referencing in particular aspects such as Western philosophy and literature, daily life in Brazil, and real-life public figures and fictional characters from different forms of media –, technobabble, scatology, nonsense, and elaborate metafictional devices, word plays and puns.
Luiz Carlos Leão Duarte Júnior, better known by his stage name Champignon and also referred to affectionately as Champ or Champs by fans, was a Brazilian singer-songwriter, lyricist, bassist, beatboxer, record label owner and drummer famous for his work with bands Charlie Brown Jr., Revolucionnários, Nove Mil Anjos and A Banca. Music critic Hagamenon Brito considered him one of the three greatest Brazilian pop rock bassists of all time alongside Paulo Roberto Diniz "PJ" Júnior of Jota Quest and Alexandre Dengue of Nação Zumbi, and Emir Ruivo of webzine El Hombre compared him to Red Hot Chili Peppers' Flea. Shortly after his death in 2013, caused by a self-inflicted gunshot wound following increasing bouts of anxiety and depression, he was featured in entertainment website Punk Brega's list of the Top 10 Greatest Brazilian Rock Bassists of All Time, in 10th place.
Bratislava is a Brazilian rock band formed in São Paulo in 2010. The current line-up consists of Victor Meira, Jonas Andrade (guitar), José Roberto Orlando (bass) and Lucas Felipe Franco (drums). Their second album, Um Pouco Mais de Silêncio, released in a fanzine format, was featured in various 2015 "best of" lists by specialized sites. Newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo considered the band one of the musical bets for 2016.
O Terno is a Brazilian rock band from São Paulo, consisting of singer-songwriter Tim Bernardes, bassist Guilherme D'Almeida and drummer Gabriel Basile. Formed in 2009, the trio began performing covers of songs by Os Mutantes, The Beatles and The Kinks before releasing original music. The band is considered a fixture of the contemporary Brazilian independent music scene, being one of the founders of the independent music label Selo RISCO.
