Mathew Daniel Welch (born 6 October 2003) is a Zimbabwean cricketer who has played first-class cricket for Mashonaland Eagles and Mountaineers. [1]
Welch made his first-class debut as a concussion substitute for Tinashe Kamunhukamwe during Mashonaland Eagles' Logan Cup match against Matabeleland Tuskers in December 2023. He opened the second innings and scored 90. [2] Two matches later he made his first century,133 against Southern Rocks,putting on 295 for the opening stand with Kamunhukamwe. [3] He joined his brother Nick at the Mountaineers for the 2024–25 season,scoring 75 and 89 in his first match. [4]
The Logan Cup is the premier domestic first-class cricket competition in Zimbabwe and is organised by Zimbabwe Cricket. It is named after James Douglas Logan.
The Southern Rocks is one of five Zimbabwean cricket franchises. They are a first-class cricket team,based in the Masvingo and Matabeleland South area. They play their home matches at Masvingo Sports Club in Masvingo. The team initially ceased to play after the 2013–14 season. In their 47 first-class matches they won 3,lost 27,and drew 17. However,in December 2020,Zimbabwe Cricket confirmed they would be one of the teams playing in the 2020–21 Logan Cup Southern Rocks won their first Logan Cup trophy in the same 2020–21 season.
The Mashonaland Eagles is one of five cricket Zimbabwean cricket franchises. They are based in the Harare Metropolitan and Mashonaland Central area and play both first-class and limited overs cricket. They play their home matches at Harare Sports Club in Harare.

The tournament was won by the Mashonaland Eagles,which is the third time the team won since the introduction of franchise cricket.

The Mountaineers clinched victory in the tournament with a final-round triumph,defeating the defending champions,the Eagles,by an innings and 123 runs. This win propelled them to the top of the table,surpassing the Rocks who were on their bye week.
Tinotenda Tinashe Maposa is a Zimbabwean cricketer who plays for Zimbabwe cricket team and Matabeleland Tuskers in domestic cricket. He made his senior international debut in December 2024.
