Matthew John Griswold (born August 29, 1982 in Austin, Minnesota) is an American Folk singer, songwriter, and musician who has recorded and released a catalog of albums and singles independently. He also writes and records both songs and scores for film and television, under a publishing/licensing deal with Universal Publishing's production music arm. He is currently based (as of 2015) in Minneapolis, where he remains a working songwriter and an active touring performer around the US. [1] [2] [3] [4]

He first made a regional and national name for himself by touring as a working musician, being a voice for Veteran's Recovery, and an Alternative Folk recording artist. [5] [6] [7]

Biography

Griswold served five years in the active military as an enlisted member of the U.S. Army, where he was a Military Police soldier and member of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team/First Armored Division [8] (based in Baumholder, Germany). He was deployed to Iraq with his unit to fight in the Battle Of Ramadi(2006). [9] Griswold has been recognized for his work in bringing awareness and being an advocate for "Recovery and Transition" issues concerning and affecting today's veterans. He has been a guest speaker and advisor to a number of schools, VA medical centers, organizations, and regional and national conventions, where he provides his insights on the issues of recovery for veterans. [10]

Griswold has had a notable number of songs licensed for production media synchronization after signing his catalog over to the Universal Music Publishing company, APM Music and Universal Publishing Production Music. His music has been used in such Films as “Old Man & the Gun”, “The New Environmentalist”, “High School Confidential”, and Television productions such as “Expedition Unknown”, NBC's “The Today Show”, BBC's “Copper”(Season 2) and Purina's “Just Right” commercial. His scores have been used by BBC's Earth, Food Network, The Discovery Channel, PGA Tour, NFL, Sport Fishing TV, Animal Planet, Outdoor Magazine, Canadian Global News, and similar networks in over 30 countries. Alex Jacke was born and raised in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles, CA. The singer and songwriter realized his passion for music as a child when he fell in love with 1990s R&B and Hip Hop. The group is known for each member playing a bass drum and for writing all their songs in 4/4 time, evoking their namesake. Their music has been featured in such television shows as ABC’s Nashville and A&E’s Duck Dynasty, including a feature as the main theme on the Season 1 DVD. The group has produced five original albums and has been featured on a number of compilation albums, including American Buffalo. The Hmong Veterans' Naturalization Act of 2000 is legislation which granted Hmong and ethnic Laotian veterans, who were legal refugee aliens in the US from the communist Lao government, and who also served in U.S.-backed guerrilla, or US special forces-backed units in Laos, during the Vietnam War, "an exemption from the English language requirement and special consideration for civics testing for certain refugees from Laos applying for naturalization." The initial Act gave these alien veterans eighteen months since the day of the bill's passage by the U.S. Congress, and its signature by the President of the United States, to file a naturalization application for honorary U.S. citizenship. However, the Act was later amended by additional legislation passed by the United States Congress which extended the N-400 filing date by an additional 18 months.

Live from Here, formerly known as A Prairie Home Companion with Chris Thile, is an American variety radio show known for its musical guests, tongue-in-cheek radio drama, and relaxed humor. Hosted by Chris Thile, it aired live on Saturday evenings from 2016 to 2020. The show's initial home was the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, Minnesota, moving later to The Town Hall in New York City, where it remained until its cancellation the next year.
