Henry Khaaba Olonga is a Zimbabwean former cricketer,who played Test and One Day International (ODI) cricket for Zimbabwe. In domestic first-class cricket in Zimbabwe,Olonga played for Matabeleland,Mashonaland and Manicaland. When he made his Test debut in January 1995,he was the first black cricketer and the youngest person to play for Zimbabwe. He was a regular member of the Zimbabwe team from 1998 to 2003. He featured in three World Cup tournaments in 1996,1999 and 2003. During his playing days,he formed a rivalry against former Indian veteran batsman Sachin Tendulkar whenever Zimbabwe and India played against each other in international cricket. He was also regarded as Zimbabwe cricket's poster boy.

This tournament was started after the Zimbabwean cricket crisis,recommended by the International Cricket Council (ICC). It is jointly sponsored by Metbank and Coca-Cola.
The Zimbabwe men's national field hockey team is the team that represents Zimbabwe in the sport of field hockey. Field hockey has the second biggest player base in the country after football. Currently,Zimbabwe has four pitches,two in Bulawayo –one water base and one sand filled –and another sand filled at the Arundel School and water base at St John's College in the capital city of Harare. Bulawayo has approximately 1,000 hockey players and Harare 8,000. The 5,000-capacity Khumalo Hockey Stadium in Bulawayo is their home stadium. Field hockey club Skies Hockey Club also use the venue for home games. They are currently ranked 61st in International hockey ranking. While the country had a tradition in the sport,they struggled in recent times largely due to their inability to participate in international competitions organized by the African Hockey Federation (AfHF) and the International Hockey Federation (FIH),until the Khumalo Hockey Stadium was refurbished and played host to the 2011 African Olympic Qualifier.

Langalibalele Ethan Dube is a former Zimbabwean cricketer who represented Matabeleland in Zimbabwean domestic cricket. He played as a right-arm fast bowler,but had his career cut short by knee and back injuries. After his retirement,Dube moved into sports administration,serving as chairman of the Matabeleland Cricket Association,as a selector for the Zimbabwean national team,and as a member of the government's Sports and Recreation Commission.
Collin Ray Williams is a former Zimbabwean first-class cricketer who has played for Matabeleland in 5 first-class matches and in a List A match. He was also the former coach of Zimbabwe field hockey team.
Michael Grant McKillop is a Zimbabwean first-class cricketer and field hockey player who also served as the captain of the Zimbabwe men's national field hockey team. He has played for Matabeleland team in nine first-class cricket matches.
Charlton Tshuma is a Zimbabwean cricketer. He made his List A debut for Matabeleland Tuskers in the 2018–19 Pro50 Championship on 23 February 2019. He made his Twenty20 debut for Matabeleland Tuskers in the 2018–19 Stanbic Bank 20 Series on 14 March 2019.
