Matty Mullins (born July 3, 1988) is an American singer who is the lead vocalist of the metalcore band Memphis May Fire and touring lead vocalist of alternative band Anberlin. [1]
Matty Mullins was born on July 3, 1988, in Spokane, Washington. His father was a pastor. [2] [3] He grew up in a Conservative Christian family and was only allowed to attend the concerts of Christian rock bands. [4] Mullins graduated from Shadle Park High School. When he was 18, he married Brittany Mullins. [5] He is living in Nashville, TN. [2]
Before joining Memphis May Fire through an open audition in 2008 Mullins played in several local music groups in Spokane. [6] He worked on the Between the Lies EP and the albums Sleepwalking , The Hollow , Challenger , Unconditional , This Light I Hold , Broken , and Remade in Misery .
He is featured as guest vocalist for several acts like Woe, Is Me, Hands Like Houses, Sleeping with Sirens, For Today, Spoken, Nowhere To Be Found and Yellowcard. [7] [8] [9] [10] In 2013 it was announced that Mullins started a solo project. [11] His solo album was scheduled for release on September 23, 2014, via Rise Records. [12] [13] It debuted at 66 on the Billboard 200 charts in the US the week of October 11, 2014. [14]
On October 10, 2023, lead singer Stephen Christian of Anberlin announced he would be stepping down from touring. Mullins was chosen as Anberlin's new live lead vocalist, and on June 14th, 2024, the band announced their album Vega, which features two songs with Mullins on lead vocals, "Walk Alone" and "Seven". "Walk Alone" was released on June 21st 2024 with an accompanying music video, with Mullins appearing to take over fully the mantle of the band's lead vocalist. [15] [16] [17]
He stated being influenced by bands like Every Time I Die, Architects, Bring Me the Horizon and Asking Alexandria. [18]
Mullins is the main songwriter for Memphis May Fire. His lyrics often deal with personal experiences, both as a person and a musician, and his Christian faith.
Mullins wrote "Prove Me Right" about the band's former label, Trustkill Records, and is a critique on the younger music industry. [19]
In 2016, Mullins launched a men's grooming brand: On Point Pomade. [20] He is active with his wife Brittany's peer-to-peer mentoring nonprofit, Beneath the Skin. [21]

Yellowcard is an American rock band that formed in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1997. The lineup currently consists of lead singer Ryan Key, lead guitarist Ryan Mendez, bassist Josh Portman and violinist Sean Mackin. Primarily a pop-punk group, their music is recognized for having a distinct and unique sound in its genre due to their prominent use of a violin. The group's most-recognized singles include "Ocean Avenue", "Only One", and "Lights and Sounds". Released in 2003, "Ocean Avenue" and its parent album of the same name are both certified double platinum and platinum in the US respectively by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA); "Only One" and the band's 2006 album Lights and Sounds have been certified gold. The band has released ten studio albums, with its most recent, Yellowcard, released on September 30, 2016. Following this release and supporting tour, the band broke up. Anberlin is an American alternative rock band formed in Winter Haven, Florida, in 2002. Since the beginning of 2007, the band consists of lead vocalist Stephen Christian, guitarists Joseph Milligan and Christian McAlhaney, bassist Deon Rexroat, and drummer Nathan Young.

Sleepwalking is the debut studio album by American metalcore band Memphis May Fire. The album was released through Trustkill Records on July 21, 2009. This album is the first album to feature lead vocalist Matty Mullins after former lead vocalist Chase Ryan left the band in 2008. Scheduled to be released summer 2008, the release got delayed because of the line-up change. Mullins has described the album as "a new breed of rock 'n' roll" and musically it has "more aggressive guitar work and noticeably more melodic, but still retains that southern swagger."

The band released the first single, "Prove Me Right," on May 24. They also released the 5th track on the album, "Vices," on June 13 as the second single from the album. On June 18, all of the songs were uploaded to YouTube on the Rise Records page. The album debuted at number 16 on the Billboard 200, selling more than 18,000 copies in its first week.

It is the group's first studio album since 2011's The Hollow to not feature guitarist Anthony Sepe since his departure in 2017. The album as produced by Kane Churko, the band's guitarist Kellen McGregor, and Drew Fulk and was recorded at The Hideout Studios.
