BBC Radio 1 is a British national radio station owned and operated by the BBC. It specialises in modern popular music and current chart hits throughout the day. The station provides alternative genres at night, including electronica, dance, hip hop and indie, while its sister station 1Xtra plays black contemporary music, including hip hop and R&B. Radio 1 also runs two online streams, Radio 1 Dance, dedicated to dance music, and Radio 1 Anthems, dedicated to throwback music; both are available to listen only on BBC Sounds.

As of May 2019, videos were being uploaded to the platform at a rate of more than 500 hours of content per minute, and as of 2023, there were approximately 14 billion videos in total.

It covers the major news of the day, often interviewing heads of state and government ministers.
The World Today was an early morning news and current affairs radio programme on the BBC World Service, launched in 1999, and broadcast from 3:00 to 8:30 (GMT) daily as of 2011. It consisted of news bulletins on the hour and half-hour, serious international interviews and in-depth reports of world news. The World Service considered it one of their most important strands, and in 2009 the programme won the News and Current Affairs Award at the Sony Radio Academy Awards. The judges noted that the programme "bubbled over with stories of real life from around the globe" and that "the compassion, respect and understanding the programme had for every contributor shone through every minute of the competition entry."
Wake Up to Money is an early morning financial radio programme on BBC Radio 5 Live. It is broadcast from 05:00 to 06:00 each weekday.
