Rear Admiral Md. Ziaul Hoque is the 15th Director General of the Bangladesh Coast Guard. [1] He is the former managing director of the Bangladesh Shipping Corporation. [2]
Hoque joined Bangladesh Navy on 1 January 1989. [3] In 1991, he completed a Naval Officers’ course in Germany. [3] He was trained at the Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre, National Defence College, India, Armed Forces Command and Staff College of Saudi Arabia and Defence Services Command and Staff College. [4]
Hoque had served as the captain of BNS Ulka, and BNS Shaheed Moazzem. [5] In 2023, he was awarded the Outstanding Service Medal and the National Integrity Award. [5] He was an instructor of the Torpedo and Submarine School, and Defence Services Command and Staff College. [6] He was the Training Coordinating Officer of the Bangladesh Naval Academy. [6] He commanded the BNS Umar Farooq. [6]
Hoque was the managing director of the Commodore Naval Aviation. [6] He was the Managing Director of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation. [9] He provided financial support to a employee of the corporation who died after a bomb hit MV Banglar Samriddhi in the Black Sea during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. [10] [11]
Hoque was the senior directing staff at the National Defence College [5] . Following the fall of the Sheikh Hasina led Awami League government, Hoque was appointed director general of the Bangladesh Coast Guard in October 2024. [3]
