Meghan Renee Beaubien (born January 29, 1999) is an American softball left-handed pitcher. She has played for the Michigan Wolverines softball team since 2018. As a freshman in 2018, she led the NCAA with 33 wins, set a University of Michigan record with 32 wins in the regular season, and was selected as a first-team All-American.

Early years

Beaubien was born in 1999 and raised in Newport, Michigan. Her mother, Kim Beaubien, played soccer at Boston College. [1] Beaubien attended St. Mary Catholic Central High School in Monroe, Michigan. [1] In June 2016, she pitched a perfect game and struck out 13 of the 15 batters she faced. [2] She was named the Michigan Gatorade Player of the Year three consecutive years from 2015 to 2017. [3] She led St. Mary's to three state championships and finished her high school career with a 100–11 win–loss record, 1,442 strikeouts and a 0.29 earned run average (ERA). [4]

University of Michigan

Coming out of high school, Beaubien was rated as the No. 6 prospect in the country by FloSoftball. [5] She was offered an athletic scholarship to attend the University of Michigan as a high school freshman. The offer was conveyed in person by coach Carol Hutchins at the Michigan-Ohio State football game. [6] She enrolled at Michigan in the fall of 2017.

2018 season

On February 2, 2018, Beaubien threw a no-hitter against Georgia State in her collegiate debut. [7] For the season, she compiled a 33-6 win–loss record with a 1.16 ERA and 266 strikeouts in 216 innings pitched. [8] Her 33 wins led the NCAA, [1] a feat that had been accomplished by a freshman only five times in NCAA history. [4] Her 32 wins in the regular season was also a Michigan school record. [9] She threw three complete-game no-hitters during the season and contributed to a fourth. [1]

At the end of the 2018 season, Beaubien was selected as a National Fastpitch Coaches Association ("NFCA") first-team All-American. [1] She was also named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Year and Big Ten Freshman of the Year. [9] [10]

2019 season

On March 5, 2019, Beaubien was selected by USA Softball as the national player of the week. During the week, she won games against two ranked opponents, holding No. 2 UCLA to one run and No. 6 Washington to two runs. [11] On March 25, 2019, she was named Big Ten pitcher of the week after throwing 20.2 scoreless innings in three wins and a save.

Angela Tincher O'Brien is an American, former collegiate All-American, retired professional All-Star softball pitcher and coach. She most recently served as the pitching coach at Virginia Tech. She was a 2008 first-round draft selection for the NPF Akron Racers. She is a graduate of James River High School and a 2008 graduate of Virginia Tech. In 2013, she was hired as Virginia Tech's softball pitching coach where she owns numerous school records. She is the ACC career leader in wins, strikeouts, shutouts, innings pitched, strikeout ratio and no-hitters, while also ranking in several records for the NCAA Division I, where she is one of five pitchers to achieve 100 wins, 1,000 strikeouts, an ERA under 1.00 and average double-digit strikeouts for her career.

Nicole Ashley Nemitz was a volunteer assistant coach for the Michigan Wolverines softball team. She was an All-American pitcher for the team, winning first-team NFCA/Louisville Slugger All-American honors in 2009.

Danielle Elaine Lawrie is a Canadian, former collegiate All-American, medal-winning Olympian, professional All-Star softball pitcher and current sports commentator. Lawrie played college softball at Washington, in which she was part of the 2009 Women's College World Series championship team and was named Most Outstanding Player. Lawrie currently plays for the Canada women's national softball team, including during the 2008 Summer Olympics, and the 2020 Summer Olympics, where she won a bronze medal.

Katherine Burkhart is an American, former collegiate All-American, retired professional All-Star softball pitcher and softball coach. She played college softball at Arizona State, and won a national championship with the team in 2008 and was named Most Outstanding Player. Burkhart holds the career records in wins, strikeouts, perfect games, WHIP, innings pitched and strikeout ratio for the school. She also ranks in several career pitching categories and the top-10 for strikeouts and perfect games for both the Pac-12 Conference and the NCAA Division I. She has also pitched for the USA Softball team. She also helped remove snakes from a plane that was bound from Hawaii to Phoenix in 2023.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Michigan Wolverines softball</span>

The Michigan Wolverines softball team represents the University of Michigan in National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) Division I competition. College softball became a varsity sport at the University of Michigan in 1978. Bonnie Tholl has been the head coach since 2023, following the retirement of longtime head coach Carol Hutchins. In 2005, Hutchins' team became the first Division I softball team since 1976 from east of the Mississippi River to win the Women's College World Series.

Jordan Lee Taylor is an American, former collegiate All-American, 3-time professional All-Star right-handed softball pitcher originally from Santa Clarita, California. She played for the Michigan Wolverines softball team from 2008–2011 and Team USA. She was drafted #11 and played from 2011-18 in the National Pro Fastpitch where she is currently the career leader in saves. She is the career Big Ten Conference career leader in strikeouts and also ranks in numerous records for the Wolverines, the conference and in the NCAA Division I.

Jennifer Darlene Ritter is an American, former collegiate All-American, retired softball pitcher and current sports commentator. She played college softball and was a starting pitcher for the Michigan Wolverines softball from 2003 to 2006 and led them to the 2005 Women's College World Series championship. She is the career shutouts record holder for the Wolverines in the Big Ten Conference.

Sara Lynn Driesenga is an American softball coach and former pitcher. She is currently an assistant coach at Central Michigan. Playing college softball at Michigan, she compiled a 31-9 record during the 2013 season with 247 strikeouts and a 1.89 ERA. She threw a no-hitter against Hofstra in February 2013 and pitched a complete-game shutout against Arizona State in the 2013 Women's College World Series.

Haylie Marie Wagner is an American softball pitcher for the Chicago Bandits of National Pro Fastpitch. From 2012 to 2015, she was a left-handed pitcher for the Michigan Wolverines softball team. She was unanimously selected the 2012 Big Ten Conference Softball Pitcher of the Year after compiling a 32–7 record and a 1.53 earned run average (ERA) in her freshman year. She finished her college career with a 100–18 win record and a 1.82 ERA. Since 2015, Wagner has pitched for the Pennsylvania Rebellion, but the club was dissolved in 2017.

Megan Renee Betsa is an American, former collegiate All-American, right-handed professional softball pitcher and coach. She is a former assistant coach at Chattanooga. She played college softball for Michigan in the Big Ten Conference, where she is the career strikeout ratio (10.7) leader for both the Big Ten and Michigan, and also ranks top-20 for the NCAA Division I. Betsa was selected seventh overall by the Akron Racers in the 2017 NPF Draft, and went on to play professionally for the now defunct Racers.

Emma Johnson, is an American softball pitcher. She was the starting pitcher for Kent State University from 2012 to 2015, where she wore the #11. Johnson is currently a free agent.

Alex Ryann Storako is an American softball pitcher for Oklahoma. She previously played for Michigan. As a junior in 2021, she set a Michigan program record with 22 strikeouts in a game. She was also named Big Ten Pitcher of the Year and a second-team All-American.

Giselle "G" Juarez is an American, former collegiate All-American softball pitcher. She played college softball at Oklahoma and Arizona State.

Megan Ki'llani Faraimo is an American college softball pitcher for the UCLA Bruins. As a sophomore in 2020, she was named Softball America Pitcher of the Year.

Aleshia Ocasio is a professional American softball. She played college softball at Florida. She most recently played in the Athletes Unlimited Softball where she won the 2021 championship as the top individual points leader. She has been a member of the Puerto Rico women's national softball team since 2015.

Georgina Louise Corrick is a British born, American raised professional softball player for Athletes Unlimited Softball. She played college softball for the South Florida Bulls. She is also a member of the Great Britain women's national softball team. She was the first pitching Triple Crown winner in NCAA Division I history.

Danielle Lauren Williams is an American college softball player for the Northwestern Wildcats. As a freshman in 2019, she was named NFCA National Freshman of the Year.
