Melinda Watpool (born 30 April 1989) is a Canadian professional boxer. She has held the WBA female middleweight International title and challenged for the WBO female super-middleweight title.
Watpool had her first amateur fight in 2007 at the age of 17 and went on to win five national titles as well as representing Canada at two world championships. [2]
She turned professional in 2022. [2] [3] Unbeaten through her first six paid contests, she won the WBA female middleweight International title at Pickering Casino Resort in Ontario on 20 September 2024, by defeating fellow Canadian fighter Natasha Spence on a unanimous decision. [4] [5]
On 15 November 2024, Watpool fought American boxer Shadasia Green for the vacant WBO female super-middleweight title at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on the undercard of the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson Netflix fight. [6] She lost by split decision. [7] [8]
