Spencer's second wife, Raine Spencer [née McCorquodale; first married name Legge], countess of Dartmouth, then Countess Spencer (1929–2016), socialite, was born on 9 September 1929. An ambitious Conservative, she wanted but never obtained a parliamentary seat.
