Merlo Station High School is a public high school located in Beaverton, Oregon, United States, which is part of the Beaverton School District (BSD). It is considered an "options" high school, meaning that it houses several different scholarly magnet programs that differ from "traditional" high schools. This allows Merlo Station to meet the many different needs of all its students. The school opened in 1993. [2] One of the option schools that had been at Merlo Station campus since its opening in 1993, the School of Science and Technology, moved at the end of 2015 to a different site, shared with BSD's Health & Science School. [3]

The Beaverton School District is a school district in and around Beaverton, Oregon, United States. It serves students throughout Beaverton, Hillsboro, Aloha, and unincorporated neighborhoods of Portland, OR. The Beaverton Elementary School District 48 was established in 1876, with other elementary districts later merged into the district. The elementary district was later merged with the high school district (10J) to create a unified school district. It is the third-largest school district in the state, with an enrollment of 39,763 students as of 2015. For the 2015–2016 school year the district had a total budget of $423.1 million.

In the U.S. education system, magnet schools are public schools with specialized courses or curricula. "Magnet" refers to how the schools draw students from across the normal boundaries defined by authorities as school zones that feed into certain schools.

Academics

Community School

The Community School contains 215 students in grades 9-12. [1] In 2008, 33% of the seniors received a high school diploma. Of 67 students, 22 graduated, 12 dropped out, and 33 were still in high school in 2009. [4] [5]

Merlo Station Night School

The Merlo Station Night School contains 75 students in grades 10-12. [1] In 2008, 48% of the seniors received a high school diploma. Of 42 students, 20 graduated, four dropped out, and 18 were still in high school in 2009. [4] [5]

School of Science and Technology

The School of Science and Technology (SST) was part of Merlo Station High School until the end of 2015. [3] In 2010, it had 178 students in grades 9-12. [1] In 2010, 100% of the seniors received a high school diploma. Of 36 students, 36 graduated and none dropped out. [4] [5]

School of Science and Technology

The School of Science and Technology (SST) is an accredited, public high school located in Beaverton, Oregon, United States. It is a magnet program for students who have an interest in mathematics, life and physical sciences, and technology. It is part of the Beaverton School District (BSD). It was established in 1993, as the School of Natural Resources Science and Technology, and later renamed. SST moved at the end of 2015 to expanded and remodeled facilities at a site it shares with BSD's Health and Science School.

At the end of 2015, SST moved out of Merlo Station High School to the Capital Center, a business park located at the southwest corner of NW 185th Avenue and Walker Road, already the site of BSD's Health & Science School. [3]

Beaverton Health & Science School

The Beaverton Health & Science School is a public school in the U.S. state of Oregon. Part of the Beaverton School District (BSD), the school offers grades 6 through 12. Opened in 2007, the school is housed in the Capital Center at 185th Avenue and Walker Road in Hillsboro. Since the beginning of 2016, the school has been directly adjacent to another BSD option school, the School of Science & Technology, with the relocation of that school to the Capital Center at the end of 2015. The school hosts a HOSA- Future Health Professionals chapter.
