The Metal Workers Alliance of the Philippines (MWAP) is a trade union federation of metal workers in the Philippines. This includes workers in the electronics industry. MWAP is an affiliate of IndustriALL Global Union.
MWAP was established in 2004. [1]
In May 2014, NXP Semiconductors fired 24 MWAP officials working at a factory in a special economic zone in Cabuyao, Laguna. The plant supplied microchips for companies such as Apple, Samsung, Bosch or Nokia. The workers were fired due to their union functions during negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement. Factory owners claimed the workers were fired after refusing to work on April 9, while workers said they had not been paid for two months. [2] IndustriALL and its affiliated unions in the Philippines condemned the dismissals. [3] [4] In September, MWAP reached an agreement with the factory by which 12 of the fired workers were reinstated and the other 12 received separation packages. NXP also committed itself to a long-term wage increase. [5] In the summer of 2015, a member of the Dutch parliament questioned trade minister Lilianne Ploumen regarding the Dutch-American firm's behaviour. [6]
In December 2020, MWAP signed a new collective bargaining agreement with Nexperia. [7]
During the COVID-19 pandemic, MWAP demanded 14-day sick leave for infected workers. [8]

A collective agreement, collective labour agreement (CLA) or collective bargaining agreement (CBA) is a written contract negotiated through collective bargaining for employees by one or more trade unions with the management of a company that regulates the terms and conditions of employees at work. This includes regulating the wages, benefits, and duties of the employees and the duties and responsibilities of the employer or employers and often includes rules for a dispute resolution process.

The Bangladesh Garment Workers Trade Union Centre (GWTUC) is a trade union federation of garment workers in Bangladesh. It is one of the largest trade unions in that sector, with more than 20 factory trade unions affiliated to it. It has enough members to be formally recognised as a trade union, but does not have that status, as is not uncommon for left-oriented unions in Bangladesh. Politically, GWTUC is aligned with the Communist Party of Bangladesh.
The National Garment Workers Federation (NGWF) is a registered national trade union federation of garment workers in Bangladesh. With 87 registered factory unions, it ifs considered one of the four main federations of garment workers' unions. NGWF is the initiator and a member of the Bangladesh Garments Workers Unity Council and a member of the Bangladesh Center for Workers' Solidarity. It is affiliated with the IndustriALL Global Union and one of the signatories of the Bangladesh Accord.

It is considered one of the four main federations of garment workers' unions. BIGUF is affiliated with the IndustriALL Global Union and a member organisation of the Bangladesh Center for Workers Solidarity. It is also one of the signatories of the Bangladesh Accord. Unlike many other trade unions in Bangladesh, it is explicitly not affiliated with any political party.

The Philippine Metalworkers' Alliance (PMA) is a trade union federation of metal workers in the Philippines. This includes workers in the automotive, electrical and electronics, iron, steel and shipbuilding sectors. PMA has 25 affiliated unions and is itself affiliated with the Sentro ng mga Nagkakaisa at Progresibong Manggagawa and IndustriALL Global Union.
IBM worker organizations have not historically been recognized by IBM. Since the company's foundation in 1911, it has not recognized any trade unions in the United States, despite the efforts by workers to establish them from 1970 onwards. In Europe and Australia there are several trade unions recognized by IBM, with limited recognition.

The majority of industrial and labor disputes involving Apple occur indirectly through its suppliers and contractors, notably Foxconn plants in China.
Tesla, Inc. is an electric car manufacturer which employs over 70,000 workers across its global operations without trade unions. As of 2016 Tesla was the only American auto manufacturer without a union, as well as in Germany. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has commented on trade unions in relation to Tesla.
