Michael Widjaja (born July 9, 1984), is an Indonesian businessman of Chinese descent, and the CEO of Sinar Mas Land Group as well as Vice President Director of PT Bumi Serpong Damai Tbk (BSDE). [1] [2] Michael was born in Surabaya, 9 July 1984. Michael Jackson Purwanto Widjaja is the thirdborn of Muktar Widjaja, thereby a grandson of tycoon Eka Tjipta Widjaja founder of Sinar Mas Group. Childhood

Michael was raised in Singapore, in 2002- 2006, he studied International Relations and Global Business at the University of Southern California, Los Ansgeles, US, from which he earned his Bachelor of Arts. [11] Soon after, he started his career at PT Duta Pertiwi under the direct supervision of his father Muktar Widjaja. [13]

Michael Widjaja is the CEO Sinar Mas Land Group as well as Vice President Director of PT Bumi Serpong Damai Tbk (BSDE). [1] [2] Before this, Widjaja worked for: EuroRev Inc, Los Angeles, 2003, PT Arara Abadi, Indonesia, 2003, Top Tier Trading, Los Angeles, 2005, Vice President Director of PT Duta Pertiwi Tbk, 2007- 2015, Vice President Commissioner of PT Dian Swastika Sentosa Tbk, 2009 - 2011, Commissioner of PT Golden Energy Mines Tbk, 2011- 2013. Sinar Mas is one of the largest conglomerates in Indonesia. It was formed in 1938. It has numerous subsidiaries including Asia Pulp & Paper and palm oil producer PT SMART. BSD City, formerly referred to Bumi Serpong Damai is a planned community located within Greater Jakarta in Indonesia. The project was initiated in 1984 by a group of private developers and started in 1989. The town is currently managed by the holding company PT Bumi Serpong Damai Tbk, which is owned by Sinar Mas Land, a subsidiary of the Sinar Mas Group, a large industrial conglomerate in Indonesia. BSD City encompasses a total area of approximately 6,000 hectares, hosting a range of residential houses, apartments, malls, offices, and more. Most of the residential areas are designed to be suitable for Indonesia's upper-middle class, in gated neighbourhoods, each with different themes. The city is now a self-sustaining community, with businesses, schools, shopping malls, hospitals and hotels.

Sinar Mas Land is an Indonesian real estate development company, which is a subsidiary of Sinar Mas Group. It combines two big developers, Bumi Serpong Damai and Duta Pertiwi. It formed in 1988 under the flag of Duta Pertiwi. It now holds substantial interests in a businesses including residential housing, apartments, shopping centers, hotels, office buildings, industrial estates, townships and cities.
