Matthew Edward Gonzalez is an American politician,lawyer,and activist. He served on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors from 2001 to 2005 and was president of the Board. In 2003,Gonzalez,running as a member of the Green Party,lost a race for mayor of San Francisco to Democrat Gavin Newsom. In the 2008 presidential election,Gonzalez ran for vice president as the running mate of candidate Ralph Nader. As of 2020,he works as the Chief Attorney at the San Francisco Public Defender's Office.
Terence Hallinan was an American attorney and politician from San Francisco,California. He was the second of six sons born to Progressive Party presidential candidate Vincent Hallinan and his wife,Vivian (Moore) Hallinan. Hallinan was educated at the London School of Economics,University of California,Berkeley,and University of California,Hastings College of the Law. He practiced privately in San Francisco.

In another first,the 1984 Democratic Convention was chaired by the female governor of Kentucky,Martha Layne Collins. The Democratic National Committee Chairman at the time,Charles T. Manatt,led the convention.
Fred Harry Lau is a former Chief of Police for San Francisco,having served from 1996–2002. He was the first Asian American to ever hold that position,and has been called the first Chinese-American to lead the police in any major American city. After his long-standing position as City Attorney,he was unanimously approved in 2021 to become the general manager of the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission.

Thomas Kuo Shyang Hsieh was a Chinese-born American politician,architect,and vineyard owner. He was San Francisco's third supervisor of Asian ancestry when he was appointed to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 1986. He was the first Chinese American to be elected to a citywide office in San Francisco. He was re-elected twice and termed out of office in 1997.
Kimiko Burton,formerly Kimiko Burton-Cruz,is an American attorney and government official. Burton is serving a second term as a member of the California State Personnel Board after having been reappointed by Governor Gavin Newsom in 2019. From 2001 to 2003,Burton served as Public Defender of San Francisco.
