Michele MacNaughton (born 18 November 1973 in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal) is a retired female field hockey player from South Africa, who represented her native country at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia. There she was a member of the women's national team that finished in tenth place.

The North Dakota Fighting Hawks men's ice hockey team is the college ice hockey team at the Grand Forks campus of the University of North Dakota. They are members of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) and compete in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I ice hockey. North Dakota is widely regarded as a premier college hockey school and has one of the most storied programs in NCAA history. UND has made over 30 appearances in the NCAA tournament, appeared in the Frozen Four 22 times, and has won 8 NCAA Division I Championships. The program has also achieved 15 WCHA Regular Season Championships, 5 NCHC Regular Season Championships, and 12 Conference Tournament Championships. The school's former nickname was the Fighting Sioux, which had a lengthy and controversial tenure before ultimately being retired by the university in 2012 due to pressure from the NCAA. The official school nickname is now the Fighting Hawks, a name that was chosen by the university on November 18, 2015.

The Broadmoor Trophy is a trophy that has been awarded to the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) playoff champion since 1985. The trophy itself dates to 1981, when it was awarded to the WCHA regular season champion for three seasons, from 1981–82 to 1983–84. During that time, the Broadmoor Trophy served as the replacement for the MacNaughton Cup, traditionally awarded to the WCHA regular season champion. Francis Xavier "Moose" Goheen was an American amateur ice hockey forward. While enrolled at the Valparaiso University, Goheen was a skilled, three-sport athlete competing in football and baseball, in addition to hockey. Goheen was a member of the St. Paul Athletic Club team that won United States Amateur Hockey championship and received the MacNaughton Cup in the 1915–16 season. After that season, Goheen enlisted in the United States Army and served in the European theatre during World War I in the Army's signal corps. After his service in the Army, Goheen returned to the St. Paul Athletic Club and won a second league championship and MacNaughton Cup in 1920. Goheen also competed in the 1920 Summer Olympics as the captain and rover for the American ice hockey team, which won the silver medal. Outside of hockey, Goheen was dedicated to his career with the Northern States Power Company in St. Paul, so much so that he declined to play with United States Olympic hockey team in the 1924 Winter Olympics and spurned multiple contract offers to play in the National Hockey League with the Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs.

The 1964–65 Michigan Tech Huskies men's ice hockey team represented Michigan Tech University in college ice hockey. In its 9th year under head coach John MacInnes the team compiled a 24–5–1 record and reached the NCAA tournament for the fourth time in its history. The Huskies defeated Boston College 8–2 in the championship game at the Meehan Auditorium in Providence, Rhode Island.
