Michele Sainte is an American drum and bass DJ and former techno DJ. [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8]
Sainte is a former breakbeat hardcore and techno DJ [9] that is also "widely regarded as one of the States' premiere female drumandbass DJs" according to Dieselboy. [10] [11] She is known for mixing the techstep subgenre of drum and bass. [12] [13]
She has DJed throughout North America at clubs and raves as a breakbeat and techno DJ on a regular basis beginning in 1990, dedicating herself exclusively to the Drum&Bass genre by 1995 [14] [15] [16] [17] [18] and performing alongside artists such as 808 State, [19] Joey Beltram, [20] Meat Beat Manifesto. [21]
She became a frequent guest DJ at music venues including City Gardens [22] in Trenton, New Jersey, Guernica [23] [24] [25] (formerly Save the Robots) in Manhattan, The Shelter (New York City), and The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey. Also, she was asked to be a resident DJ at Club Zadar in New Hope, Pennsylvania, in January 1990, introducing techno to the new wave venue. In addition, she became a resident DJ at several venues in Philadelphia including Evolution [26] and Skyline. [27] She is considered one of the first female techno DJs from North America and has been cited as "the original East Coast female drum and bass DJ". [28]
Sainte has acknowledged the support of DJ Lenny Dee. [29] Dieselboy has also been known to support her. [30] She also convinced Rhys Fulber, after he met her in the “early nineties” when she worked as a Techno DJ, to eventually produce Techno and use his German name as opposed to an alias. [31]
Sainte became licensed by the FCC in 1986, whilst still a high school student and went on to do her first radio show that same year at WCVH in New Jersey. At WCVH, she exclusively played Industrial, New Wave, and Punk. [32] She also worked at WFMU (named the “best radio station in the nation” by Rolling Stone magazine from 1991 through 1994 [33] ) and WPRB at Princeton University. [34] [35] [36] In 1995, she created and DJed on a program with live mixing at WPRB that she called Bassquake. Bassquake aired every Friday for five years. It was the United States's first drum and bass/jungle program to air on a commercial FM radio station. [37] [38] [39] [40]
Sainte is a vegan, regularly advocating for veganism on her social media. She is also Wiccan, having trained in California in person with Zsuzsanna Budapest. [41] She is related to musician Duncan Wickel of Rising Appalachia, Harrison Wickel, amd Ralph James Wickel.
Front Line Assembly (FLA) is a Canadian electro-industrial band formed by Bill Leeb in 1986 after leaving Skinny Puppy. FLA has developed its own sound incorporating elements of electronic body music and electro-industrial. The band's membership has rotated through the years, including Michael Balch, Rhys Fulber, and Chris Peterson, all of whom are associated with several other acts.
Intermix was a side project of Canadian industrial musicians Bill Leeb and Rhys Fulber in the 1990s that initially focused on techno, but included a more ambient style on their last album.
Hardcore is a genre of electronic dance music that originated in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany in the early 1990s. It is distinguished by faster tempos and a distorted sawtooth kick, the intensity of the kicks and the synthesized bass, the rhythm and the atmosphere of the themes, the usage of saturation and experimentation close to that of industrial dance music. It would spawn subgenres such as gabber.
Econoline Crush is a Canadian rock band from Vancouver, British Columbia, formed in 1992. Ace Troubleshooter, often shortened to Ace, was an American pop punk band. Formed in December 1995 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, they released five albums through Tooth & Nail Records.
WPRB is an FM radio station licensed to Princeton, New Jersey, and owned by Princeton Broadcasting Service, Inc. It broadcasts a freeform radio format, including shoegaze, slowcore, noise music, harsh noise wall, plunderphonics, illbient, jazz, electronic, folk, reggae, ska, metal, world, soul, rap, blues, and rock. While the station is non-profit, it is licensed as a commercial radio station. It is funded primarily by listener contributions, raised especially during WPRB's annual spring 10-day Membership Drive. It also derives funding through community underwriting contracts with local businesses. Almost all on-air staff and management are Princeton University alumni and students. Human Imprint Recordings is an American drum and bass record label founded by Damian Higgins in New York City in 2002. Human began as a subsidiary of System Recordings and is mostly known for high energy releases in subgenres including techstep, hardstep and darkstep. In July 2009, Human Imprint parted ways amicably with System Recordings, and Dieselboy created the SubHuman : Human Imprint for dubstep and electro releases.
Skycamefalling is an American metalcore band from Long Island, New York. Formed in 1996, the band released three EPs and one full-length album from 1996 to 2003. After going through several lineup changes, the band eventually split up in 2003. After a seven-year break, four of the five founding members reformed the band in 2010.

Minotauromachy is a 19.5 by 27.4” etching and engraving created by Spanish artist Pablo Picasso in Paris in 1935. The etching and resulting prints, literally entitled Minotaur Battle, feature many compositional aspects and themes seen often in Picasso’s art throughout the 1930s. These include the Minotaur, an unconscious or dying female matador on an injured horse, a young girl holding a candle and flowers, a man scaling a ladder, and two women watching with doves from a window. Created during a time of personal turmoil within which Picasso created little artwork, Minotauromachy stands out as a seminal and striking piece with no shortage of artistic interpretations.

Mar is a sailing tour boat based out of Halifax, Nova Scotia and known for its literary and film associations. Mar was built starting in 1957 and launched in 1959 at Frederikssund Boatbulding in Frederikssund, Denmark. She was built for author Ernest K. Gann, author of several works including "Song of the Sirens", "Twilight of the Gods" and "The High and the Mighty". She was then bought by Charles Tobias owner of Pusser's Rum Company and he used her in the filming of the 1976 film The Way of the Wind. The Mar was then purchased by Mar II Sailing Tours Ltd. based out of Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1982 and she has been sailing there ever since, with the exception of some seven-day sailing excursions around the Caribbean in the 1980s. The Mar has not only sailed to the Caribbean, she has sailed extensively around the tropics and also to the Arctic. She has a sturdy design which has also allowed her to complete two circumnavigations of the globe when owned by Charles Tobias.
