Michelle Chia Yun Yi (born 19 September 1975) is a Singaporean television host, actress and businesswoman. She was a full-time Mediacorp artiste from 1980 to 2012 but continues to film on an ad-hoc basis.

Early life and career

Chia was educated at Raffles Girls' Primary School and Bowen Secondary School.

Chia started her career as a child actress with SBC. [1] She later joined TCS (predecessor of MediaCorp) after finishing her school. In 2000 she switched to SPH MediaWorks but was transferred back to MediaCorp when it absorbed MediaWorks. [2] In May 2012, Chia left the entertainment industry due to the expiry of her contract with MediaCorp. She had declined to renew it, stating that she wanted to temporarily "take a break" from showbiz. [3]

Ventures

In a 2018 interview with 8 Days , Chia revealed that she made investments into businesses while she was acting full-time, and was a partner of Monsoon Hair Salon and owned an investment firm. [4] [5]

Personal life

In May 2009, Chia and Shaun Chen was married, after dating for six years. [6] On 28 April 2011, it was revealed that the couple was filing for divorce due to "personality differences". [7] The divorce proceedings were finalised in October 2011. [7]

Blk 88 (大牌88) is a Singaporean Chinese language web series produced by MediaCorp in 2012. Webisodes are available on xinmsn's catch-up TV portal, an online portal run by MediaCorp in collaboration with msn.com, and were broadcast on Channel 8 after the initial release. It was commissioned by the Media Development Authority after the success of web mini-series Let's Play Love. Not only is it the first locally produced animated web series, it is also the first animated comedy series produced in Singapore. It stars veteran actors Huang Wenyong and Lin Meijiao and Y.E.S. 93.3FM deejays Lin Peifen and Seah Kar Huat as well as several guest artistes.

<i>Game Plan</i> (TV series)

Game Plan (千方百计) is a Singaporean Chinese drama which debuted on 9 October 2012. This series was the second production by Wawa Pictures to be broadcast on MediaCorp Channel 8, the last series being "The Oath". It stars Christopher Lee, Jesseca Liu, Shaun Chen, Jacelyn Tay, Chen Shucheng, Lin Meijiao & Tong Bing Yu as the casts of the series.

Yang Libing, also known as Emily Yeo, is a former Singaporean Mediacorp actress. She was prominently a full-time artiste from 1983 to 2009.
