Midland High School (MHS), also known as Varna Midland, is a public four-year high school located at 1830 Illinois State Route 17 outside of Varna, Illinois, a village in Marshall County, Illinois, in the Midwestern United States. MHS serves the communities of Varna, Lacon, and Sparland. [2] [3] The campus is located 30 miles northeast of Peoria, Illinois, and serves a mixed village and rural residential community.

Midland High School offers academics in all of the major fields of study (Math, Science, English, and Literature) as well as other, more diverse areas of academia.
Students are offered multiple levels of mathematics classes. These classes include Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Advanced Math, Advanced Placement Calculus, and Physics.
The science department has at least one newly upgraded science lab/lecture classroom, featuring a Smart Board and high-tech lab tables. Courses include: Earth Science, Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology, and Advanced Placement Biology.
Midland's English/Literature department offers classes which include English I, English II, English II, and English IV.
Students are offered a variety of history courses as well. These classes include: Geography, World History, and American History (required to graduate).
The agriculture department of Midland High School partners with Midland's FFA group to compete in FFA competitions and bring home awards based on the students' broad and detailed understanding of the agricultural world around them.
Midland offers one foreign language through the school: Spanish. The department offers four levels of the language course as well as a Spanish Club for extracurricular learning.
This school offers two full computer labs (one used as a classroom setting), a half lab in the media center, and laptops available for classroom teachers to check out for specific classes. The technology classes are the Newspaper and Yearbook classes (called "Technology Applications" in the class catalog).
Midland offers both choirs and bands to students at the school. Two levels of choir are offered: Chamber Choir for women's voices in a small ensemble setting and a class choir in a smaller time period for any type of voice. The choir frequently goes on tour (they visit New York City every 4 years where they perform) and integrate music theory and world music into their lessons. The band program is offered one hour a day but includes many extracurriculars. Students in band play for the basketball games in the winter.
Midland High School competes in the Tri-County Conference and is a member school in the Illinois High School Association. Their mascot is the Timberwolves, with school colors of dark green, silver, and black. The school has no state championships on record in team athletics and activities. Due to their small enrollment, MHS coops with nearby Henry-Senachwine High School for Boys and Girls Cross Country, and Boys and Girls Track and Field. [2] [5] [6] Midland also offers Scholastic bowl that also competes in the Little Tri County, as well as golf, baseball, basketball, girls basketball, softball, bass fishing, and volleyball.
Midland High School was formed out of the 1995 consolidation of Sparland High School and Mid-County High School (a successor of the Varna High School and Lacon High School consolidation after World War II). Homewood-Flossmoor High School (H-F) is a comprehensive public high school in Flossmoor, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. The district encompasses nearly 11.5 square miles (30 km2) drawing students from Homewood, Flossmoor, Chicago Heights, Glenwood, Hazel Crest, and Olympia Fields. A three-time U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon Award Winner, Homewood-Flossmoor continues to be ranked nationally, including as one of America’s Best High Schools by U.S. News & World Report in 2020.

Batavia High School, or BHS, is a public four-year high school located in Batavia, Illinois. It was created by the merger of West Batavia High School and East Batavia High School in April 1911 and is part of Batavia Public School District 101; the East Batavia and West Batavia athletic programs merged in 1909. The Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences (CHSAS) is a public 4–year magnet high school located in the Mount Greenwood neighborhood on the far south side of Chicago, Illinois, United States. The school is operated by the Chicago Public Schools district. CHSAS opened for the 1985–86 school year in August 1985. Arcola Community Unit School District 306 is a unified school district based in a southern Douglas County settlement named Arcola, Illinois. The district is composed of an elementary school and a consolidated junior senior high school. The junior senior high school, although consolidated, is still regarded as two different schools. Students enter the district as prekindergarteners or kindergarteners in Arcola Elementary School, which educates the students until sixth grade under supervision of principal Angie Gentry. Prophetstown High School, or PHS, is a public four-year high school located at 310 West Riverside Drive in Prophetstown, Illinois, a small city of Whiteside County, Illinois, in the Midwestern United States. Murray County Central (MCC) is a school district in southwestern Minnesota. Both the elementary school (West), and the high school (Central) are located in Slayton. The high school was known for much of its history as Slayton High School; this officially changed when the district consolidated in 1992, bringing in students from many of the surrounding communities, including Avoca, Chandler, Currie, Iona, and Lake Wilson. Orangeville High School, now referred to as Orangeville CUSD, is a public School four year high school that also hosts the Junior High and the elementary school level grades for the entire school district. The building is located at 201 S. Orange St in Orangeville, Illinois, a village in Stephenson County, Illinois. The school serves students residing in the communities of Orangeville, Red Oak, Oneco, Afolkey, Buena Vista, Damascus, Buckhorn Corners, and surrounding area. In 2019, the city’s elementary school was transferred to this building to include all grades within the same complex. The building itself was built to its current state in 1948 after the original building was destroyed by a fire.
