Michael Horner (born January 8,1968,in Jacksonville,Florida) is an American Republican politician and a former member of the Florida House of Representatives. [1]
Horner graduated with a bachelor's degree from the University of Florida in 1989. He graduated from the University of Central Florida with a master's degree in public administration in 1995. He currently lives in Kissimmee,Florida with his family.
On September 24,2012,Horner was running for re-election when he suddenly resigned from the Florida House of Representatives after his name surfaced on a list of brothel clients in evidence against an accused prostitution ring leader. [2] In his resignation statement,Horner said "I deeply regret decisions I made that are causing my family unjustifiable pain and embarrassment." [3] [4] [5]
On May 18,2024,Horner was arrested and charged with battery against an elected official. The altercation occurred on May 17,when Horner and Osceola County School Board District 3 member Jon Arguello both attended a fundraiser for State Attorney Andrew Bain.
Arguello confronted Horner regarding his link to a prostitution ring, and began to record him. Publicly available video shows Horner grabbing Arguello, threatening him and later calling the police, falsely claiming assault. Following his arrest,Horner was given a $2,500 bond and an order of no-contact with Arguello. [6] [7]
