Michael Kemp is an American college football coach who is the head football coach for SUNY Erie, a position he has held since 2021. [2] He was previously an assistant coach for Brockport High School, Brockport, Springfield, St. Lawrence, UConn, Penn, Cortland, Holly Senior-Junior High School, Elba / Byron–Bergen High School, Norwich, [3] and SUNY Erie. [4] He was the head coach for the Plymouth State Panthers football team from 1996 to 1998 and was the first head coach in program history for the Utica Pioneers football team from 2000 to 2007. [5] [6] He also coached the York–Pavilion High School football team in 2015. [7]

Louis Henry Saban was an American football player and coach. He played for Indiana University in college and as a professional for the Cleveland Browns of the All-America Football Conference (AAFC) between 1946 and 1949. Saban then began a long coaching career. After numerous jobs at the college level, he became the first coach of the Boston Patriots in the American Football League (AFL) in 1960. He joined the Buffalo Bills two years later, and led the team to consecutive AFL championships in 1964 and 1965. Saban was the first head coach to win multiple AFL championships, with only Hank Stram passing him. After serving briefly as head coach at the University of Maryland, he was hired as head coach of the Denver Broncos in 1967, where he remained for five years. Saban returned to the Bills—by then in the National Football League (NFL) following the AFL–NFL merger—from 1972 to 1976, reaching the playoffs once but failing to bring Buffalo another championship.

John Francis "Jack" Quinn Jr. is a former President of Erie Community College (ECC), and a former politician from the State of New York. He was a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives from 1993 to 2005. Quinn's political views are moderate-conservative to conservative, and his voting record reflects centrist leanings. While in Congress, Quinn was active in numerous committees, subcommittees, and caucuses as chair or member. Prior to becoming a congressional representative, Quinn taught in Orchard Park, New York; worked at a steel plant; and was active in the Hamburg Town Council, as well as being the town's supervisor. After leaving Congress and prior to taking the top leadership post at ECC, Quinn was also president of a lobbying firm in Washington, D.C. Quinn has two adult children, including his son, former New York State Assembly Member Jack Quinn III; and his daughter, Kara Elizabeth. He currently resides in Hamburg with his wife, Mary Beth.

Jeffrey William Van Gundy is an American basketball coach and former commentator who is currently the top assistant coach for the Los Angeles Clippers. He served as head coach of the New York Knicks and the Houston Rockets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Mercyhurst Lakers men's ice hockey team is a National Collegiate Athletic Association hockey team that represents Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pennsylvania under Head Coach Rick Gotkin. The team is currently a Division I hockey team playing out of the Mercyhurst Ice Center located on the school campus. The Mercyhurst Lakers started out as a club sport at the school, moving up to Division III, followed by Division II, and now plays in Division I in Atlantic Hockey America, formed shortly after the 2023–24 season by the merger of the Lakers' former home, the Atlantic Hockey Association, with College Hockey America. After joining their step up into Division I in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in 1998, the Lakers have won their conference tournament making NCAA tournament appearances in 2001, 2003, and 2005.

Curt Fitzpatrick is an American college football coach. He is the head football coach for the State University of New York at Cortland, a position he has held since 2020. He also was the head football coach for the State University of New York at Morrisville from 2013 to 2019. He was an assistant coach for Fulton High School, St. John Fisher, and Utica. He played college football for St. John Fisher as a quarterback.

Robert Ellsworth Boozer was an American athletic director and college athletics coach. He was the athletic director for State University of New York at Brockport—now known as SUNY Brockport—from the 1950s to 1971. He was the head football coach for the school from 1947 to 1959.
