George Michael Mukula, commonly known as Mike Mukula, is a Ugandan businessman, politician and a professional pilot. He represented Soroti Municipality from 1996 to 2016 in the parliament of Uganda. He owns a conglomerate of 28 companies under the Mukula Group of Companies. [1] He is a member of the ruling National Resistance Movement and currently holds the position of Vice Chairman (Eastern Region) for the ruling National Resistance Movement in Uganda. [2]

Early life and education

Mukula was born in Soroti, Teso sub-region in the Eastern Region of Uganda on 27 August 1956. He attended local schools before he was admitted to the Kenya School of Flying at Wilson Airport in Nairobi, Kenya. He completed his pilot's training in the United States and attended the IDF Military Colleges from 2000 to 2001 graduating in Counterterrorism. He is a Harvard Kennedy School fellow from the class of 2004-2005, specializing in political and economic reforms in government [3] . In 2005, he was awarded a Master of Business Administration by Nkumba University. In 2009, he received an honorary doctorate degree by the Latin University of Theology, based in Torrance, California, USA. [1] [4]

Career

Mukula transitioned from aviation to politics in the mid-1990s. He successfully contested for the Soroti Municipality parliamentary seat in 1996 and was re-elected in 2001, 2006, and 2011. [5] From 2001 to 2006, he served as the state minister for health. [6] He announced his retirement from elective politics in May 2015, effective March 2016, but continues to serve as the National Resistance Movement Vice Chairman for the Eastern Region. [5] [7]

Personal life

He is married and a father of four children. He belongs to the National Resistance Movement political party. [5]

Peter Aimat Lokeris is a Ugandan politician and accountant. He is the current Minister of State for Minerals in the Cabinet of Uganda. He was appointed to this position on 16 February 2009. In the cabinet reshuffle of 27 May 2011, and that of 1 March 2015, Peter Lokeris retained his cabinet post. He is also the elected Member of Parliament representing Chekwii County in Nakapiripirit District. He has continuously represented that constituency since 1996.

Jessica Rose Epel Alupo, commonly known as Jessica Alupo, is a Ugandan politician who is the ninth and current vice president of Uganda since 2021. Jenipher Kacha Namuyangu, also Jennifer Namuyangu Byakatonda, but commonly referred to as Jennifer Namuyangu, is a Ugandan politician and environmentalist. She belongs to the National Resistance Movement political party. She is the current Minister of State for Bunyoro Affairs in the Prime Minister's Office and former Minister of State for Local Government in the Ugandan Cabinet. She was appointed to that position on 6 June 2016. She previously served as the Minister of State for Water Resources, from 1 June 2006 until 27 May 2011. In the Cabinet reshuffle on 27 May 2011, she was dropped from the cabinet and was replaced by Betty Bigombe. She also served as the elected Member of Parliament for Pallisa District Women's Representative, from 2001 until 2011. In 2010, Pallisa District was split into two, to create Kibuku District. Bukedea is a town in the Eastern Region of Uganda. It is the chief municipal, administrative, and commercial center of Bukedea District, and the district headquarters are located there.

Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi is a Ugandan politician and lawyer who served as the eighth vice president of Uganda from 24 May 2011 to 21 June 2021. Prior to that, he served as the Speaker of Parliament from 2001 to 2011. He served as Member of Parliament for Bukoto County Central constituency from 1996 to 2021.

George William Thembo Nyombi is a Ugandan economist and politician. He is the executive director Uganda Communications Commission a position he assumed on 24 November 2023 and a former State Minister for Information Technology in the Ugandan Cabinet. He was appointed to that position on 27 May 2011. He replaced Alintuma Nsambu, who was dropped from the Cabinet. Prior to that, he served as the State Minister for Luweero Triangle in the Office of the Prime Minister, from 2009 until 2011. Nyombi Thembo is also a former Member of Parliament (MP), for "Kassanda County South", Mubende District. He has continuously represented the constituency since 2001.

David Wandendeya Wakikona is a Ugandan aviator and politician, who previously served in the Cabinet of Uganda as State Minister for Northern Uganda and State Minister of Trade & Antiquities. He was also the elected Member of Parliament representing Manjiya County in Bududa District from 2001 until 2016.

Alex Aadroa Onzima is a Ugandan politician. He was the State Minister in the Office of the Vice President in the Ugandan cabinet. He was appointed to that position on 6 June 2016. Prior to that from 27 May 2011 until 6 June 2016, he served as the State Minister for Local Government. He replaced Perez Ahabwe. Onzima also served as the elected member of parliament, representing Maracha County, Maracha District in the 9th Parliament.
