The Southern African Development Community (SADC) is an inter-governmental organization headquartered in Gaborone,Botswana.
Viktor Stepanovich Chernomyrdin was a Soviet and Russian politician and businessman. He was the Minister of Gas Industry of the Soviet Union,after which he became first chairman of Gazprom energy company and the second-longest-serving Prime Minister of Russia (1992–1998) based on consecutive years. He served as the third Executive Secretary of the Southern African Development Community (SADC). Salomão was appointed at the 2005 Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Southern African Development Community in Gaborone,Botswana. He earned his doctorate at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore,Maryland,United States.

He served three times as Ambassador:to Greece (1985–89),Zimbabwe (1980–84),and Mauritius (1976–78). Lieutenant Colonel Boniface Guwa Chidyausiku is a Zimbabwean diplomat who served as Zimbabwe's Ambassador to Russia from 2011 to 2015. Chidyausiku participated in the Zimbabwe Liberation War as a member of ZANLA from 1975 to 1980,which led to the attainment of National Independence and multiracial democracy. He was attested and commissioned with the rank of Lt Colonel in the Zimbabwe National Army. He went back to college in 1982 and obtained a BA History [Honours] Degree,and a Master of Science Degree in International Relations from the University of Zimbabwe.

The 2008–2009 Zimbabwean political negotiations between the opposition Movement for Democratic Change,its small splinter group,the Movement for Democratic Change –Mutambara,and the ruling Zimbabwe African National Union –Patriotic Front were intended to negotiate an end to the partisan violence and human rights violations in Zimbabwe and create a framework for a power-sharing executive government between the two parties. These negotiations followed the 2008 presidential election,in which Mugabe was controversially re-elected,as well as the 2008 parliamentary election,in which the MDC won a majority in the House of Assembly.
