Michael Regan (born September 10,1961) is an American politician and former U.S. Marshal. A Republican,he is the Pennsylvania State Senator from the 31st district. Prior to that,he served as a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives,representing the 92nd district from 2013 to 2016. [2]
Regan graduated from Cedar Cliff High School and received a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Albright College. He began a career in law enforcement,serving as a US Marshal in Miami before returning to fill this same role in South Central Pennsylvania in 1990. In 2002,Regan was appointed as the U.S. Marshal for the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania,which required a nomination by President George W. Bush and a confirmation by the United States Senate. In 2011,Regan retired from federal service and was appointed as Deputy Inspector General of Pennsylvania by Governor Tom Corbett.
In 2012,Regan was elected to serve the 92nd District in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Regan won the Republican primary election with 35.6% of the vote among five candidates. He then defeated a Democrat in the general election with 71.7% of the vote.
In 2014,Regan won reelection to his House seat,running unopposed in both the primary and general elections.
In August 2015,Regan announced that he was running for District 31 of the Pennsylvania Senate. In the Republican primary election,Regan faced dentist Brice Arndt,former NFL player Jon Ritchie,and attorney Scott Harper. Regan won the primary election with 52% of the vote. Many political pundits called the primary campaign one of the most competitive Republican primaries in recent history. [3]
Regan was officially elected to the Pennsylvania Senate in November 2016,defeating Democrat John Bosha with 65% of the vote. [4]
Regan was sworn in as the Senator for Pennsylvania's 31st Senatorial District in January 2017.
Senator Regan currently serves as Chairman of the Veterans Affairs &Emergency Preparedness Committee and Vice Chairman of the Local Government Committee. He is also a member of the Consumer Protection &Professional Licensure Committee,Judiciary Committee,Law &Justice Committee,and the Rules &Executive Nominations Committee. [5]
In 2021,Regan was criticized because his wife,Frances Regan,was appointed by Jake Corman,Regan's Senate GOP colleague,to a position on the Gaming Control Board that paid a $145,000 salary. [6]
In 2023,Regan physically removed a climate protester from blocking the door to a political event. [7]
In 2021,Regan announced his intention to pass legislation to legalize recreational cannabis in Pennsylvania. [9] Regan voted for House Bill 1024 in the 2020-2021 legislative session,which permitted medical marijuana companies to remediate products and use additional pesticides among other provisions. Melissa Ann Hart is an American lawyer and politician. She was a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives from 2001 to 2007,representing western Pennsylvania's 4th congressional district. She was the first Republican woman to represent Pennsylvania at the federal level. Prior to her service in Congress,Hart served in the Pennsylvania Senate,where she chaired the finance committee. She was the first Republican woman elected to serve a full term in the Pennsylvania Senate in 1990 when she was 28 years old. In her first run for office,Hart defeated an incumbent in a senate district that included parts of Allegheny,Westmoreland and Armstrong counties. In the 2006 midterm elections,Hart lost her bid for re-election to Democrat Jason Altmire. She challenged Altmire again in the 2008 election,but was defeated again.
Michael Folmer is an American politician and convicted sex offender. He represented the 48th district in the Pennsylvania State Senate,which includes all of Lebanon County and portions of Dauphin and York Counties,from 2007 to 2019. He is a member of the Republican Party.
Karen Rae Tallian is an American politician and attorney who served as a member of the Indiana Senate for the 4th district from December 2005 through October 2021. She was re-elected in 2006,2010 and 2014. While serving in the Senate,Tallian,a progressive,has supported medicinal prescription and the decriminalization of marijuana,and has authored bills in its favor. In 2015,she announced her candidacy for governor of Indiana but dropped out that same year,well before the primary season. Tallian was also a candidate for the Democratic Party nomination for Indiana Attorney General in 2020,but lost the nomination to Jonathan Weinzapfel.

She represents the 39th Senatorial District which covers the central portions of Westmoreland County,Pennsylvania. Following the resignation of Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman,Ward became acting lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania on January 3,2023,and served until January 17,2023. She is the first female president pro tempore of the Pennsylvania Senate. She was succeeded by Austin Davis as Lieutenant Governor.

Casey was the first senator to be elected to a third term from Pennsylvania since Arlen Specter in 1992,and the first Pennsylvania Democrat to be popularly elected to three terms in the Senate.
The 2018 Pennsylvania gubernatorial election took place on November 6,2018,to elect the Governor and Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania,concurrently with the election of Pennsylvania's Class I U.S. Senate seat,as well as elections to the United States House of Representatives and various local elections. Incumbent Governor Tom Wolf won re-election to a second term by a double-digit margin,defeating Republican challenger Scott Wagner and two third-party candidates from the Green Party,Paul Glover and Libertarian Party,Ken Krawchuk. The primary elections were held on May 15. This was the only Democratic-held governorship up for election in 2018 in a state Donald Trump won in the 2016 presidential election.
