The River Avon is an English river in the south west of the country. To distinguish it from a number of other rivers of the same name, this river is often also known as the Bristol Avon. The name 'Avon' is a cognate of the Welsh word afon, meaning 'river'.

It was recorded in 1991, at a time when the band was thinking of signing to a major record label, but decided to release the album on Sub Pop. The album shipped 50,000 copies on its original release. It is credited with helping to keep Sub Pop in business.

The Omni Homestead Resort is a luxury resort in Hot Springs, Virginia, United States, in the middle of the Allegheny Mountains. The area has the largest hot springs in the commonwealth, and the resort is also known for its championship golf courses, which have hosted several national tournaments. The resort also includes an alpine ski resort; founded in 1959, it is the oldest in Virginia. The resort has been designated a National Historic Landmark; it has a history extending more than two and a half centuries. The Omni Homestead Resort is a member of Historic Hotels of America the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Of Thick Tum is the first album by Trumans Water. BBC disc jockey John Peel heard this album and was so impressed by it that he played it in its entirety on his show. The band initially self-released a small pressing of this album on vinyl in 1992, with each copy in a handmade and unique jacket with inserts varying from locks of hair to photographs of their relatives. In his review of the follow-up, Spasm Smash XXXOXOX Ox & Ass in Melody Maker, Everett True stated that his copy had included "a Far Side birthday card, the foreword to a book on setting up private hospital rooms, an advice sheet on insurance, some small intestines, and a cloth sleeve which is too small for the LP to fit inside". The album was re-released in the United States by Homestead Records on CD and LP. Subsequent British and Japanese issues of the album contained considerable bonus material.
Spasm Smash XXXOXOX Ox & Ass is the second album by Trumans Water. It is their first double-album and was released in 1993 on Homestead Records in the United States and Elemental Records in the UK. There is also a Japanese re-release of the album with a radically different track listing. Everett True, in a 1993 review of the album, described it "Imagine Pavement if they were five Gary Youngs with the songwriting ability of two Steve Malkmuses". Chris Sharp, writing in Lime Lizard stated "there are 20 tracks here, but each one feels like at least three songs grafted together in some bizarre musico-genetic experiment".
Godspeed the Punchline is an album by Trumans Water. It was released in January 1994 by Homestead Records in the United States and Elemental Records in the UK. This album was preceded by three other "Godspeed" albums--Godspeed the Static, Godspeed the Vortex and Godspeed the Hemorrhage—all of which featured improvised, lo-fi music. Godspeed the Punchline can probably be considered the proper, studio follow-up to Spasm Smash XXXOXOX Ox & Ass. It is the last studio album recorded with Glen Galloway before he left to form Soul-Junk. The album was described as "eighteen short blasts of negasonic tumult" by David Sprague of Trouser Press, while Mark Jenkins of The Washington Post stated that the songs "can wander aimlessly or suddenly turn on the siren and race straight to their destination".
Scrabbling at the Lock is the first of two albums by Dutch punk band The Ex in collaboration with avant-garde cellist Tom Cora. It is also the first of The Ex's studio albums to feature the work of then Dog Faced Hermans guitarist Andy Moor, who has remained in the band ever since.

The University of Washington firebombing incident was an arson which took place in the early morning hours of May 21, 2001 when a firebomb was set off at Merrill Hall, a part of the University of Washington's Center for Urban Horticulture, causing an estimated $1.5 to $4.1 million in damages. By 2012 four of five accused conspirators behind the attack admitted their guilt in plea bargains. A fifth committed suicide in federal detention while awaiting trial.
"Auf Wiedersehen" is a song co-written by Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen and bassist Tom Petersson and first released on the band's 1978 album Heaven Tonight. It was also released as a single as the B-side of "Surrender". Since its original release, it has also been released by Cheap Trick on several live and compilation albums, including Budokan II; Sex, America, Cheap Trick; The Essential Cheap Trick, and the 30th Anniversary Edition of Cheap Trick at Budokan, which also includes a DVD with a video performance of the song. Allmusic critic Stephen Thomas Erlewine described the song as one of the peaks of Heaven Tonight and as one of Cheap Trick's "stone-cold classics." It has often been used by the band to close their concerts. Since its original release, it has been covered by Anthrax, Cell, John Easdale, and Steel Pole Bath Tub.
